Can I open more than one? Can I open and close one and try another?

If so or if not, start with Physical modification.

Can I make myself smarter, faster or stronger?

First one is Ten. Second is 20. Third is 40. They may not be closed.

Physical Modification Table:

Reflex Nerve Speed Increase:: 10
Strength increase by 10%: 10
Perception increase 20/20 vision: 10
Durability increase by 5%: 10
Recovery increase by twenty seconds: 10

It does not go into more detail than that despite questions.

I do have another crystal....

What happens if I activate that?

So this is like Rennon's shoppe from that video game.... (In the game, if you spend too much in the shoppe, you have to fight Rennon for your soul. He's not that hard.)

Strength increase by 10%: 10

This is the one in which I am most interested...

But what happens with the other crystal?

You had it in your pocket.  You absorb it. It feels nice.

You absorb a Small Energy Core.  You gain 5 Energy.  You now have 6 Energy.

So, a Tiny gives you 1, a Small gives you 5, and a Minor gives you 10.

But you still don't have enough to buy anything.

Small energy core would put you up to 11.  You could then buy something.

So you start hunting.

You go for fifteen minutes, and spot a Praying Mantis that is a foot long, and is eating an overly large squirrel that is dead.  Its turned away from you.

Those things are armored. Its gonna be like a crab...

It's eating so it's not going to pay me any attention. (Note, predators don't (usually) hunt when they're not hungry. If it's eating, it's not going to pay me any nevermind.)

Just walk right up on him and stick my double barrel up to his eye. He has no idea what it is. What happens when you shoot a preying mantis in the eye with a 00 buckshot 12 gauge round?

What do I get?

It does look armored.

Let's check your theory with a GE roll.  9 on 4d6. Woohoo.

It doesn't even twitch, and you evaporate much of its skull.  It falls down, and dissapears, and then the squirrel does as well.

2 Small Energy Cores.

Use the paper to start a fire.

Try to catch a fish with the rotted squirrel meat.

2.

Use the paper to start a fire.

This works.  You now have a small campfire.

Try to catch a fish with the rotted squirrel meat.

You put strips of the meat on the hook, and frustratingly have a very clever fish nibble most of the meat free without touching the hook.  But then a third try, and you hook an Electric Eel.  He comes to the surface thrashing and his eyes sparking, and boy is he mad!  He's also eight inches in diameter and eight feet long.  Solid black except for the eyes.

But with your magic fishhook, he's not going to be able to yank himself free.

But how much energy cores?

Pull up that menu. I've 10 more energy than before. What can I get?

As for the eel, just tie it off to a tree and let him wear himself out. Check back on him in a couple hours. See if he's worn himself out any.

Not enough information.

Preferred, but we'll see. Do nothing at the moment.

quote:
Perception increase 20/20 vision: 10

Confirmed by a doctor just a few days ago, I've still got 20/13 eyesight. 20/20 would be a downgrade.

Durability increase by 5%: 10

Maybe. But we'll see.

More information.

See what we get when we put a round of 00 buckshot into the eel.

OOC) I've got 15 rounds of slugs, but personally I think slugs are cheating. It's a SHOT gun, ya know??? If I wanted to shoot a single projectile, I'd shoot a rifle. But anyway....

OOC) Ever heard of a Punt gun? It's almost single-handedly responsible for the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon. Huge shotgun. Fired up to a pound of shot and could kill 100 birds at once.

Pain flares through you, and  you feel all your muscles twitch as one.  It knocks you flat on your back.  And then its over.  You're drenches in sweat, and you can see a small increase in 'ripness' in your arms.  Getting back to your feet is just a bit easier.

The PhMod Table now reads:

Physical Modification Table:

Reflex Nerve Speed Increase:: 10
Strength increase by 10%: 20
Perception increase 20/10 vision: 10
Durability increase by 5%: 10
Recovery increase by twenty seconds: 10

Now GE roll for getting killed from heart...your heart flutters, and thunders a bit, and you start wondering...but then it calms down.  You're OK.

OOC: as you probably had 2@1 Str or thereabouts, you gain @2 to your str.

More like 1@4 strength. Remember 2@1 is a bodybuilder. Did I look like a bodybuilder to you?

All I know for sure is I'm hungry. These animals don't leave me much meat to eat. Makes me wonder how the indigs survive here....

Look for food!!!

OOC: You looked strong.

You hear a distant roar that sounds like it came from the throat of a T Rex or something, and a killing intent flows through the woods, and nearly drives you to your knees.  You'd been stalking a bunny, but bunny did a dissappearing act as soon as it felt that pressure.

So you're left with lettuce to eat.

OOC) Nah, that's fat. Not muscle. Makes for an intimidating physique, but ultimately dead weight.

Is lettuce the only plant I've been able to identify? It's not calorically dense. Did you know that if you ate nothing but celery, you'd actually starve to death faster than if you ate nothing at all? It takes more energy to digest celery than you ultimately get back from it.

Take some of that copper wire and see if I can figure out how to make a snare trap. I've never done it before, not really sure I remember what I read in the book. (Hey, Glantri. If you're reading, how about a hand huh?)

Snare trap?

Well, then you're 1@5 Str now.

Question: GE roll...12....you've identiified three plants.  One is a minty plant, another is a dark green and kinda bitter, and another is lettuce.

You try....botch, and  you jab  yourself in the finger with the wire, drawing a tiny bit of blood.  Finally, you get something, and about ten minutes pass, and bunny comes back, and snap, and bunny is dead.

You get a tiny energy core, and a chunk of cooked rabbit sufficient for a decent snack.

And the copper wire seems to be very hard to slip free of, like the golden hook.

One snare, one trot line. What do I catch?

Try to spy on the indigs. See if any look particularly weak or vulnerable.

If it's been 2 weeks, then all of the food I brought is gone. Should have brought a tool bag.....

Anyway....

On the trot line you catch another sunfish.  But its alive.

On the snare, you catch a ....you're not sure what since the body is gone, but there was a huge amount of struggle, and broken leaves over a fiffteen foot wide area, but now there is a venom sac and a Major energy core.

You can see the indigs as they get up out of bed in the early dawn, and there is some hollering that you have escaped.

Pull it in. Hang it up to dry. What's left when it's dead?

Sounds good to me!!! Just wish I had a crossbow. Venom sac might make poison arrows.

But a major energy core? What's that do?

Get back to camp.

OOC) I don't know if you noticed this when I stayed with you, but I don't sleep eight hours straight. Not in years. I sleep for 2 hours, get up, bathroom, back to sleep, for an hour, bathroom, back to sleep. I'm actually in one of those wake ups right now. Point is that it's going to be a little more difficult to catch me off guard at night.
