"I. Don't. Mend. Leaky. Spots." Pello says in an ironclad voice. "I leave that to the carpenters and tinkerers. Magic is an art. Just like ballet, halfling pot pouri and gladiator combat, it requires skill, finesse and a keen sense of balance. I don't mend leaky spots."

Erdthar just grunts.  Then fishing around for his share of the passage, he hands it to Pello.  "Just don't burn down the boat," he warns.  "At least while we're on it."

"Right, I'll be back in a jiffy." Pello says and pulls two mugs out of his backpack. Leaving the backpack and most of his gear on the boat, he then nods to Milo "Keep an eye on my things, will ya chap? Thanks aplenty." And then he's off.

Making his way through the town, he soon arrives at Goats and kicks open the door.

"Hiya Baugh! I told you I'd bring them back. Had a slight detour around Felbarr. But hey, you can use them as celebrity mugs now. They've seen the world!"

Back to town

While the others wait near the boat, Erdthar, Pello, and Gimuld take off, heading back for the city.

Gimuld and Pello wind their ways over to Goat’s, while Erdthar searches the streets for Molly.

Upon arriving at Goat’s Pello is met with a loud yell. ”well there you are pip squeak. You got my mugs?” The goat-headed beast of a man bellows as he walks out from behind the bar, heading to intercept Pello and Gimuld as they walk toward the bar. Getting closer Baughzwerth reaches out his arms and pats both Pello and Gimuld on the shoulder, nearly knocking the two off their feet. ”Damn. Its good ta see ya’s back. Most folk in yer line a work, walk out one day never to return. Glad that aint the case with yous. How bout a drink?” He smiles as he snatches up the two mugs and replaces them with two full ones.

The three have a few drinks and chit-chat about the most recent adventure, leaving out the part about Drace (You guys can divulge that info on your own). Baughzwerth liked the part about the Blue Dragon though. After thinking back for a moment, Gimuld purchases a couple barrels of ale and then the two leave the bar heading back for the boat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Erdthar scowers the city, looking high and low, but no sign of Molly. After a long while Erdthar nearly gives up, when he spots a familiar looking cart hunkered up next to an old shack, he goes to investigate. Sure enough, Molly looks to be cooking up some stew or something in an old black pot in the middle of the first floor of a derelict building. The walls around her barley seem to stand as the floor creeks and pops. Erdthar hesitates to put his wait on the floor, but then Molly sees him and invites him in. Erdthar walks in and sees a few vagrants hanging out in the shack along with Molly.

Molly speaks in her normal happy and giddish tone. Ohhh So good ta see ya lad. Glad ya made it back. How was things? Good?” She pauses for a moment while she ladles out a bowl of the soup and hands it to one of the vagrant men standing with her in the building. The man bows his head thankfully and then walks off to find a seat on the floor in the corner.

When asked about the almonds, Molly responds. ”Ohh sure I got some more a those. There out on my cart. Here watch this stew for me and I’ll grab ya some.” She hands the ladle to Erdthar as she heads out to get a few satchels of the almonds. She returns a few brief moments later. ”Here ya are son, all I got right now, I’ll have to make a new batch as soon as I’m done serving breakfast here.” She hands Erdthar three satchels. A small boy sits in the corner eyeing the almonds as his mouth waters. The site of the boy cause Erdthar to look around the rest of the room at all the other sad eyes and long faces, the site nearly brings a tear to his eye; these are poor people, people with out no homes, and many of them no jobs, and very little if any food.

OoC: Pello returned the Mugs, Gimuld got a couple barrels of ale, and Erdthar got some almonds. Now we are off to the boat for an adventure down river.

On the Boat again

Milo plops his line down in the water as Charlie readies the boat for take off.  Milo makes out pretty good for the small amount of time that he was fishing; he caught three good sized fish, looks to be trout.

As Erdthar comes aboard the ship Charlie hands him and Quindill a 10’ long oak pole. ”When I give the word you two push us off with this, ya here? Charlie barks out as he returns to the front of the ship, un-doing tie lines as he goes.

Everyone finds a spot on the deck or in the small cabin to sit for the beginning of the journey. The boat really isn’t that big, and feels quite cramped. The cabin is very small and once the captain gets up on the roof, very loud as his boots clunk and clap.

Everyone is relieved to see that the so called “patches” on the side of the ship that you saw from a distance, are actually thick pieces of armor. It seems that Charlie has modified his ship a bit by adding extra armor in areas that get pounded by rocks. All in all the ship looks much better up close than it did from a distance.

Your time to admire the ship comes to an end as Charlie yells out. ”Push us off! Push us off! The journey down stream begins.

Re: On the Boat again

Erdthar stays a while at the shelter, lading stew, and leaves a dozen gold with the guy that runs the place.  He also gives the first little boy one of his satchels of almonds.

-----------------------

On command, the big orc grunts and shoves the the boat free of it's mooring, resetting the pole to push again off the end of the dock for extra momentem to slide into the main river current.

Re: On the Boat again

17th of Fading Midday

The first day and a half of travel down river goes relatively uneventful. Milo catches a few more fish making lunch a pleasant delight. All in all, the atmosphere is very light and fun, with jokes and banter flying all around the boat.

Charlie seems to be a good-natured fun loving guy that jumps in on the banter when he sees a chance. He rants and raves about the dangers that fill the river valley, but as of yet you have failed to notice anything “dangerous”. He warns of the beast that lair in the high snow covered mountain peaks, only time will tell if these tales are true.

Nearing Moon Pass the river starts to get narrower and the water stats to speed up a bit, forming small white caps here and there. The rougher water and skinny channel causes many of the larger boats to pile up on top of each other as they await their pull teams; here many of the large ships have to stop and tie on to land based pull teams. The pull teams consist of mules and laborers that guide the ship down river with ropes and polls, tightening one side as the other side goes slack.

Charlie’s little ship nimbly makes its way through the barrage of barges and comes out on the downstream side with a full head of steam. ”We’ll be hitt’n some rapids soon! That’s why the boat’s got ta tie off. Hold on to yer lunch its gunna get rough.” Charlie yipps as a boyish smile crosses his face. It is easy to tell that he enjoys shooting the rapids.

Re: On the Boat again

The boat smashes into a large rock with a thud, the impact does little to no damage to the ship, but it nearly knocks a few people out of the boat.

Charlie laughs. ”Told ya ta hang on. This aint near as rough as it gets, so ‘twould be best if ya get yer sea legs on.” Charlie smiles as he continues to steer the ship downstream.

18th of Fading 6pm

The second day of travel has little to offer, the river calms down for most of the day’s trip with only a few rapid sections. The sun starts to set when Charlie decides to bring her next to shore and tie off for the night. ”We can’t make it through this next section up ahead in the dark. We’ll tie off here, this area is pretty mellow, not much in the way a beast, but we will need to watch out for scaly-wag bandits.”

Erdthar gives the shoreline a long appraisal, before turning his attention back to the river and the approaches Pirates would have to use.  "I was wondering - how do you get past all these rapids and such, on the way back up?  I noticed the pull teams at the pass, but was too busy to see if there were any at the rapids."

"See them trails that follow along the river's edge. There's one on each side. Those are the pull team trails." They run from Sundabar all the way to Everlund. Although the lower parts near Everlund are used only in the winter." Charlie proclaims as he finishes his duties.

Pello leaps from the boat to the shore and looks around.

"Hah! I pity any bandits who might try to attack us. We've smashed giants and mutants, and driven dragons on the run. A few bandits probably wouldn't be a problem. I bet Erd could take them on all by himself."
