Re: Keep on Marching

Me, just recently,...DM caught me online, was helping me out with a few issues. Dude,...now is the time to go back to the mountain, we will rule like gods because the player base is vanished. Dude I even asked a question in the forums, "hey do you have scribing scrolls available?" was just a question, didnt expect even a response, but when I logged the DM filled me up with scrolls and said,.."we didnt have scribing before, but it doesnt matter, go ahead and play test it, tell me what you think."

Ok, call me crazy but no DM, no GM and I don't care if its wow or muds, or lotro, EVER SAID hey cool play test this and tell me what you think. Dude, lets do this man. The management has changed dude, Gaz left, he sold the server to someone else and theyre running it now. This would be a nice casual fun place to hang. Im trying to get the guys over in my game to jump in, one has already, just a couple comp issues...

Re: Keep on Marching

Okay - digging through my old disks I got:
Balder's Gate
Balder's Gate II
Throne of Bhaal Expansion

NWN Platinum, which includes NWN, Shadows of Undrentide, and Hordes of the Underdark

Icewind Dale

Not sure which of all that I'd need to install

Re: Keep on Marching

Youll need nwn and all the expansion paks

2.3 CEP: basically just cut and paste the talk haks and the hak files into your NWN folders, same name.

7 zip to unpack it

Re: Keep on Marching

Platinum says it has 'all expansions, patches, and updates'
though I don't know the 'as of' for that.

Re: Keep on Marching

75.135.56.136:5121

thats the direct connect addy.

Hey before we go in, lets get together on classes. This is a party based server theres not much soloing past lvl 5. We gotta build a little fire team. Ill take healer.

Re: Keep on Marching

1.63  so I'll apply the patch.
can I move the extracted CEP entirely into my NWN folder?  or will that overwrite stuff I want to keep?

Edit: will the patch or the vault files allow me to run the game without the disk in my drive?

Re: Keep on Marching

Something in 1.69 allows you to run without disk. Not sure exactly what file it is.

I didnt overwite I was afraid it might bug it or something. I just cut and pasted.

I also found this to be a niffty feature, you can change the target so you dont have to sit through the intro everytime logging in. Copy and paste a nwn shortcut to your desktop, and go to properties changing the target line. Theres no password on the server

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe +connect  75.135.56.136:5121 +password DirectConnect

What are you playing Erd melee? Caster? Ranged?

Re: Keep on Marching

I want to add something, for some reason, I dont see melee folks maxing dex, unless its a specific dex build rogues for instance. Not sure why that is.

Even though that guy gave me scrolls Im hesitant to take scribe scroll in my build. If it ends up being just a waste.

Re: Keep on Marching

Huh. got it all setup with the CEP and the patch and all extensions.
The launcher runs fine, showing 1.69, and the tools all work

But 'play' crashes horribly with video problems.
I'll work on it another time

Re: Keep on Marching

are you running xp or vista, if youre running vista or higher you may have to set it to run in xp mode. I know there are some issues with 7 and vista.

Running XP.
The game ran on this same machine under Win2000, but I've had nothing but problems with the even basic graphics since upgrading to XP.

Re: Keep on Marching

Dang,...well you know with these things it could be anything like the order in which you install the CEP or the patch. Its so annoying. Let me know how it turns out, hopefully you can get it running.

Re: Keep on Marching

Yeah.
It might be a problem with the .NET framework, as all the OpenGL driver packages I've tried fail with .NET-looking error messages.
