Using Browser Tabs with Roleplay Online

I was just logged in on two tabs in my web browser and noticed that when I logged out of one I was still logged into the other.

Is there any harm in having two or more login sessions open in different tabs?  If so, it's a habit I want to break early.

Thanks,
D

Not that I've observed, as long as they're in the same browser.

I typically open the main page then pop open any games with new posts each into its own tab with no ill effects.

Once you start being signed in from different browsers or different devices, that's when things can behave a bit oddly.

I am guilty of doing this across browsers and devices on a regular basis.  Different tabs can still cause quirky behavior with PMs and threads not flagging as read, but it's not going to corrupt your system or anything.

Using Browser Tabs with Roleplay Online

When in a particular game, I frequently use tabs to open 'Cast' or 'Character Details' or Dice Roller' or 'Scratchpad' and sometimes several of those. I also will open a simultaneous session if I want to check other IC threads for information.

Thanks to all who replied.  I believe I will still refrain from using more than about three tabs at once, just to be cautious.

As a GM I often have up to 10 tabs open at one time. It cause no ill effects.  If you want to avoid leaving open tabs when you sign out, then right click on the main tab and choose Close Other Tabs or Closes Tabs To The Right.  Then sign out or close the main tab.  That will avoid having other RPOL tabs open when you close out the main.

Using Browser Tabs with Roleplay Online

Some times I will have more than one game open at a time.

I may be in the middle of posting something.
Then realize I need to roll for something, so open the dice roller in another tab..

But looking at it I realize I have forgotten how i have to type in the kind of rolls I am wanting to have it do.
So I open a tab to one of my Games test it on my roller to see if it does what I think.

Then type it in the game for real. roll. Copy and paste the results in the post on trhe other tab sitting half done.

I can do the same thing If I am wanting to have some thing look a certain way or try an odd set of stacked commands without leaving a mess in someones elses game. try it in mine then when I am sure it works do it in the game where I am a player.

Using Browser Tabs with Roleplay Online

In one of the games I play, we just completed a pentathlon, of sorts.  It was fairly impromptu, so the GM would tell us in the OOC thread what we needed to roll for each event as it came up.  I play multiple characters in that game...and my memory is bad enoughthat I don't remember their stats.  So, several times in the past few weeks, I had one tab for the OOC thread (to keep track of what I was rolling), one tab for character sheets, one tab for the dice roller, and one tab for PMs so I could send the GM my results.  No problems (at least, with the site...my laptop is not as agile as it once was...)  This sort of thing is not uncommon for me.
