Sybil McNamara
Name: Sybil McNamara
Nicknames: Sib, Bibble (brother)
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Species: Human
Appearance: Sybil stands at about 54 and has an average build. While not overly muscular or toned, shes not a wilting flower by any stretch, able to lift heavier things one would assume for a person of her size. Her body suggests someone who works out casually but also likes booze, cake, and junk food - small hints of muscle but also some flabby bits that folks would find appealing back in the days of the renaissance.
Her style is one of easy fashion. Chunky sweaters with scarves and beanies in the winter, a t-shirt and jeans in the summer. She can find outfits at Target, thrift stores, antique shops, and anywhere in between but tends to avoid boutiques and higher-end places almost out of spite.
She tends to keep her dark hair short, either nearly full buzzed or slightly longer on the top to be styled. Her eyes are also a dark brown, which makes the vast changes from red, to yellow even more jarring when they occur.
Charles, for those that can see him, chooses to stand at about 6'4", in a dark, well-tailored suit. His hair is dark, and his features are handsome. The only thing that could be considered off-putting are his blood-red eyes.
Face Claim: Breanna Hildebrand
Powers: As a witch, Sybil has a decent amount of skill with certain spells and energy channeling having learned most things thru study and practice. It can be said that she sometimes oversteps her bounds which can lead to trouble, such as a demon strapped to her side that tends to loan out her body at random. Those entities have access to her knowledge and physical form enough to cause minimal damage but maximum pain - making bargains with unknowing or fully willing participants, opening portals to other entities aiming to burn the world down. Depending on the entity in possession of her body, she gains a lesser version of their skill and power for a time. A necromancer gives her enough power after expulsion to reanimate a squirrel, a fire demon after expulsion can warm a can of soup. As a consequence of their possession (with the exception of Charlie), the controlling entitys abilities are brought down to a fraction of what they would be. She also gains some of their knowledge in the process.
Sybil also has a telepathic ability that is limited to hell-bound creatures and spirits.
Charlie: Can be seen and heard in his form by most hell-bound entities, ghosts, and more skilled witches/wizards. For most other supernatural beings he can be sensed or "seen" but only so much as a dark aura or energy and to be heard he needs to possess Sybil. When needed he can channel darker magics and utilize thru Sybil - though they are about 3/4 strength.
Weaknesses: Despite needing a decent amount of focus and attention to detail, Sybil has a habit of getting rushed or distracted. Poor performance under pressure has led to larger messes shed have to clean up as best she could later. It was one of these rush jobs ended up in latched "Charlie" to her. He tends to dip in at the worst moments, sometimes to provide commentary in the background, cause more distractions to her, or loan her body out to either himself or a friend/associate. During these times Sybil is fully aware of what is happening but most times isnt strong enough to break out and regain control of herself. As a mortal/human she isnt invincible, though her attachment to -- has benefits that tend to keep her alive past what might kill others without a demonic entity strapped to their side. Her connection to Charlie also makes her more susceptible to being hijacked by demonic entities more than ghosts or spirits. Most often newcomers need to be allowed by Charlie but there have been instances of attempted forced takeovers.
Personality: Growing up Sybil was considered gregarious. Outgoing and positive she was friends with everyone, or at least she tried to be. Through high school she was social and driven, working a simple waitressing job, studies, and several extracurriculars. She also strived for perfection and could be considered high-strung when things didnt go as planned.
Once Charles showed up she began to withdraw more from her friends and family, People she cared the most about in order to protect them, at least thats what she told herself.
Charlie made her a wild card. Sometimes overconfident, sometimes calm and professional, other times crass and commanding. Her personality varied depending on the day and it soon became easier to keep moving in order to prevent questions.
History: Sybil grew up in your typical suburban town. Nothing overly spicy or exciting with the exception of her family descending from a line of witches. It was not AS glamorous as it seemed and her training started small, her mother doing her best to steer her away from hexes - much to the dismay of a more emotional pre-teen Sybils hopes.
Whether it was an attempt at something new, blind ambition, or trying to grandstand, Sybil disregarded her mothers many warnings and attempted what she thought would be a simpler spell. It was only in the last moment she realized she had not only misread but reversed 2 sections but by that point it was too late and the portal had opened, slammed shut, and chained him to her.
Profession: Sybil is a bit of a jack of all trades and tends to bounce between jobs and places when people start to think her too odd or the paramedics and cops start visiting for wellness checks often enough that theyre on a first name basis. Shes been an administrative assistant, bartender, waitress, courier, and sales clerk. Mostly things that are easy enough to give a quick exit to. At the moment shes between jobs, her last being an Admin for a larger company in the area.
Hobbies: She enjoys reading and playing her guitar when time and Charlie allow. Reading is mostly limited these days to spell books and older texts in effort to rid herself of her companion. For the most part he allows it, if only because he finds it amusing. If she needs to calm her mind, a glass of wine, cross stitch or knitting, and TV tend to do the trick.
Sexual Orientation: Unknown - shes had boyfriends in the past when she was alone. Going by her actions shes into every type of person, however her body is not always hers.
Writing Sample: Theyd been talking for a little bit of time, just kind words started by a hint of a read on her, a presence the woman had said in the vague and generic way that most of them did. With the mention, that presence grew stronger. What was the saying? Speak the devils name . She didnt even have time to finish the thought before he was standing behind her, only his aura visible to those keen enough to catch it.
Oh yeah- thats just my buddy Cecilia Honeyblo- she stopped abruptly, wincing as though something had shocked her.
Gertrude Bel- another wince.
Lucia- DUDE! she growled. This one cant see or hear you. So she doesnt know what the fuck you look or sound like. I can name you whatever the hell I wan-
At that moment she realized that the poor empath was caught between the two of them squabbling like an old married couple. Unfortunately for the woman, Sybild had enough of his shit for the day and had decided to be more of a brat than usual.
You think youd learn. He grumbled looking down at her disapprovingly.Just tell them my name-"
Honeydew Moonwi- another wince as she growled and glared over her shoulder, muttering as if to herself. I can do this all day my dude.
The poor woman in front of them was obviously trying to extricate herself from the conversation more than likely having regretted getting into it in the first place. She stammered some excuses through a forced smile and started to back away when a hand grabbed hers. Sybil turned to her, eyes now a blood red as opposed to the blue of a moment before.
You may call me Charles. the tone was different than a moment before, not menacing but more authoritative and polished.
This stupid girl was just being difficult and I indulged her. Now that you can hear me, it seems as though you want something. I hear theres a friend of mine looking for you-
