Brief Description: Ben is an athletic, fit young man in his mid twenties with the build of an individual who takes decent care of themselves. His hair, naturally a medium brown color, is short and almost perpetually unruly, and his hazel eyes can swing from pensive focused to mischievous. Currently, to help distinguish him from his genetic brother, Ben has his hair dyed a deeper, more red-brown, and generally wears green contacts.
When not in costume, He generally prefers loose-fitting, non-descript clothing. This allows him to move freely and maintain his flexibility, to blend in and get 'lost in a crowd' and, when necessary, wear his 'Union Suit' underneath without sacrificing comfort.
Notable Skills:
- Science
- Technology
- Invention
- Driving
- Mechanics
- Photography
NOTE: Ben has all of Peter's memories and skills - at least up to the age of 19 or so. However, the years he's spent on the road means he has not kept up as much in certain fields as his counterpart. He's FAR better at science and tech than the average person, event a lot of professionals - but he's not in Peter's league. He has, however, picked up several skills that Peter has never really needed, such as becoming a competent mechanic.
Known Powers:
- Spider-Sense: A precognitive danger sense. It warns Ben of danger by making a 'buzz' in the back of his head, the intensity of which is a direct correlation to the severity and immediacy of the danger. A man who might do Ben harm walking past? Mild tingle. Explosion in the building next to him? Far more intense.
- Enhanced Physiology: Ben's body is enhanced on many levels, making him stronger, tougher, and more nimble than an most.
- Phenomenal Strength: Ben can lift/press roughly 10 tons under normal circumstances.
- Amazing Agility: Ben's ligaments and muscles are more flexible, allowing him to contort in ways that others find impossible.
- Astonishing Reflexes: Partnered with his agility and Spider Sense, Ben can react far faster than even most experienced fighters. This is now, however, to speedster levels.
- Spectacular Resiliency: Part and parcel with his enhanced musculature, Ben is cable to resist more damage than the average person. This is especially true with blunt-force trauma (clubs, fists, falls, etc).
- Superior Equilibrium: Ben is as comfortable standing on a wall or hanging from a ceiling as he is on the floor. He suffers none of the ill-effects or disorientation normally associated with said positions.
- Incredible Healing: While nothing close to a true regenerative/healing factor on par with certain mutants, black eyes fade after a day, town ligaments and broken bones mend in a fraction of a time. He can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
- Phenomenal Strength: Ben can lift/press roughly 10 tons under normal circumstances.
- Wall Crawling: Every part of Ben's body can 'cling' to surfaces up to anything just shy of truly 'frictionless'. Nothing has been found that can break this bond (ripping him from a wall reveals that the wall broke before his 'connection' did). This is heavily concentrated in his hands and feet.
Weaknesses:
- Alcohol: Few know it, but alcohol screws with Ben's Spider-Sense and his coordination/equilibrium. Even in small amounts. Ben is a true light weight and, in social situations where drinking is expected, Ben rarely partakes more than polite 'sips'.
- Loss of Spider-Sense: While rare, Ben has run into occasions where something has nullified his spider-sense. This impacts hand-eye coordination, his reaction time and, and even the speed and skill in which he can web-swing. It shows just how much Ben inherently relies on his spider-sense.
Equipment:
- Web Shooters: Spin a web, any size. Catch them thieves, just like flies! Ben's web shooters are modifications on the original Parker design. One of the amazing innovations that he came up with was a method of making his webshooters responsive to specific muscle-twitches/contortions and finger placement and light taps on a trigger fastened to the palm. This new, more versatile trigger mechanism replaces the original, standard 'double-tap' method.
- Standard Webbing - Sticky and dissolves in an hour or so.
- Impact Webbing - Balls that strike a surface, rupturing their thin outer shell before expanding rapidly and wrapping around the target.
- Stingers - Small little darts that contain a paralytic neurotoxin.
- Standard Webbing - Sticky and dissolves in an hour or so.
- Spider-Tracers: Small tracers that work on a frequency tied to his spider-sense.
Brief Background: Ben Reilly is a clone of one of the greatest (and most misunderstood) of heroes: Peter Parker.
Created by an obsessive college professor, Miles Warren. This was done over Warren's obsession with Peter's then girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, and her death at the hands of the Green Goblin. As the Peter clone developed, Warren learned the truth - that Peter was Spider-Man. That pushed the already unhinged man over the edge and he saw a chance for vengeance.
Most of what happened is well known. Original and clone fought. Original won. Clone was thought to be dead - but survived. He began to realize that he was not the original model after all, that he was a clone. And so, lost and confused... he took off.
Not having anywhere to go, or knowing what to do, he began the life of a traveler, drifting from town to town, city to city. He adopted the name Benjamin, in honor of his uncle, and Reilly - his aunt's maiden name. He started working odd jobs to make ends meet, usually only sticking around one place long enough to start to settle in, then moving on - finding the ties that bind constricting...not to mention he just had no real idea what to do with himself.
Eventually, however, he found he could not ignore the wrongs in the world around him. He wasn't Peter, not really. He wasn't Spider-Man, but he still had skills and abilities, he still had the drive to see people helped, to see the weaker one protected.
Donning a scarlet body-suit and a cheap blue hoodie with a black spider spray-painted along the front, he started doing what deep down inside he knew he was meant to do: help people.
Brief Personality: The last few years (and the only true years of Ben's life) have sent him on a different path from Peter Parker. He's a little more jaded, a little more travel and world weary - but it's also lead him to being a little more open and freer. He still loves science and technology, still feels that drive to help and protect, but the paradigm has shifted a bit.
