Talia Salkim

Strong-willed, elegant, classy, generous, proud, devoted, passionate, beautiful...all these words and more describe Talia Salkim, prominent Priman member of the merchant class.

As head instructor at the Golden Mermaid Bathhouse in the Lords' District, Talia is often the target of rumors as to her activities and true motives, and has learned to ignore them, though they still cause her great frustration.

An expert in reading others, she can easily determine truth from falsehood based on the speaker's body language, and so highly values honesty.

Talia easily gets exasperated with those who misunderstand her or make assumptions about her, and those who lack determination, or who fail to seize their full potential, and she often has to fight the impulse to assert her will over such people. She often struggles to be humble, dislikes false modesty, and hates dishonesty.

She is easily angered over the unfair treatment of others, and when those close to her are involved, will make righting those wrongs her personal goal. In such cases she is capable both of fierce and unwavering determination, and of exceptional gentleness and compassion. Although she is charismatic and can be quite manipulative, she never uses her abilities thoughtlessly or maliciously.

Her rather strict upbringing focused on speaking, acting, and dressing in a way befitting the wealthy, and to this day she is often under constant societal pressure to behave properly, a pressure she relieves by engaging in intense physical activity, the more intense the better. Though she greatly prefers the company of men, she has been known to have relations with women as well, but it takes a certain caliber of partner to meet her highly exacting standards. Many are her acquaintances and friends, but few ever become more. Those that do are treated to her excellent ministrations.

Although she is reserved until people get to know her better, deep down she is genuinely concerned for others, has a generous spirit, and knows how to bring out the best in people. She loves being the center of attention and enjoys entertaining, empathizing with people, and establishing common ground. At times her extroversion can lead her to be too intense, and she sometimes puts people on the spot, but she enjoys keeping a friend or acquaintance nearby, as she hates being alone.

As an instructor, she can be stern, but she also has a strongly playful side, which she encourages in others when wanting them to loosen up and enjoy life. Her playing can be very elaborate in these situations.

She loves to hear stories from adventurers, but will bend her ear for almost anyone to hear about exciting events. She loves asking people how and when they met someone important to them, mostly to see their faces light up, to hear their laughter, to share their experience and help them relive those pleasant memories.

The best moments of her life have been when meeting others, and she recalls words, faces, emotions, what led up to the meeting, and so on, with great clarity. She can be very protective of those closest to her, but never overly so.

Her willpower, perseverance, curiosity, optimism, loving nature, social intelligence, gratefulness, and passion help bring her that most elusive of qualities: true happiness.

To further retain her more important memories, Talia collects objects from meaningful places or that remind her of certain people. These objects are usually beautiful, and always have sentimental value.
