Van has grown considerably since joining the Tolkeen military as a regular soldier. Whatever sense of right and wrong he once had seems not to matter any more. The breaking point seems to be when the woman he was romantically involved with, Saila, was killed in front of him. Since then he has not bothered becoming close to anyone else, knowing that at some point he'll watch them die too.

Since acquiring the TW Dynamo Exoskeleton, Van has been the consummate soldier. He is always battle-ready if not a little on edge. He fights with demonic intensity. His humanity may still lurk somewhere below the surface, but his shell of confidence and aggression hides it quite well.

Van is 1/4 Mexican, though it doesn't come out very often. He was actually raised in Baha, but you wouldn't know it to look at him. Finding out about the war, the young thief got on his hover-board and travelled across the continent. So far, as he hoped, the war has been profitable.
