Beelo Bigfoot

Beelo is a short guy, even for a Hairfoot, with light, curly hair, as thick on his bare feet as on his head, and a smile that never quits. He looks like he's trying (and failing) to grow a beard. His clothing and gear are mostly khaki, green and light browns, but he's not adverse to a bit of color, here and there. His leather armor is dark green and covered in tiny, black rings. The right shoulder is a rounded pauldron, with studs instead of rings. He also wears matching bracers and wears a hardened-leather knee-pad on his right knee. These five pieces of armor look like they were made as a set. Before he lost it in a windstorm, he used to wear a brown hat with a large, yellow plume. His pants are short and khaki, with the cuffs buckled just below the knees, and they have two pockets. His shirt is almost as light a brown, with saffron trim and five pockets, but all but the one on his left sleeve are under his armor. He never, ever wears shoes and he brushes his feet as often as his head. He also carries a sword at his belt and a bow on his back. His bow is in an Elven-style hard case quiver, with the arrows in line and with dividers to hold them in place. There are extra arrows sticking out of his brown leather backpack. Other than his armor looking very new and clean, he comes off looking very much like a Ranger.

Beelo comes from a farming family. It's a big family, but it's also a big farm. There were always plenty of boring chores to be done. They had chickens, sheep and a few cows and they grew a variety of fruits and vegetables, but their main crop was the apple orchard, which seemed to stretch for miles and miles, though it was really only a quarter section. Those trees were older than anyone could remember and most of the apples were sourer than an old spinster's disposition, but that's because they were bred for cider.

Beelo's least favorite chore was loading baskets of apples, to be sold to the Stinkfoot family. They were the Bigfeet's main customer, the owners of the cider press. By the time the wagon was full, he'd be too tired to walk back to the house. He couldn't even eat one of those sour apples and the edible ones were much too far away from where they loaded the wagons.

So, on wagon loading days, Beelo tended to be hard to find. Wandering off was his specialty. If there was one place he would not wander off to on wagon loading days, it would be where they loaded the wagons.

One day, he was lazing around on the far side of the orchard, where the edible apples were, and decided to go and find out what that blue building was, over the hill. It turned out to be quite a lot further away than just the other side of the hill. Beelo had to climb three big hills before he could finally see the whole of it. He'd walked so far, it didn't seem like he'd be able to get home before dark. The building was only a very tall grain silo, but Beelo sat down, took a rest, and admired the way the owner had painted it, all blue and white and looking much newer than it probably was. He fell asleep on that hill.

The next morning, when he awoke, Beelo decided that he didn't want to go home. He'd much rather wander on and see what else there was to be seen. Perhaps he would find some better-tasting apples?
