Kato doesn't usually wear his equipment outside of battle zones, so in the cities and in other safe zones he usually walks around in a normal shirt, a hooded jacket, comfortable pants, sneakers and a pair of headphones on his head.
One would consider this as lame level 1 equipment, but he likes it.

Only one thing would make others recognize him pretty easily: two pointy, blue furred ears, poking out of his spiky, blond hair. (Strabimon ears)

Short version of his backstory:

Not much is known about the player DeathSound as he played solo until now. He is not the kind of player, who aims to be the best, but rather the kind of player, who wants to improve himself. One might only know him, if they remembered him from winning a sniper tournament in which he obtained the "Executioner's Judgment". Other than that, he would only be remembered as the guy with low level gear and a Agumon as a partner, who recently became a Agumon X by unknown methods.

The "Demon Slayer" is the upgraded version of his early anti-demon snipers, making it the gun he possessed the longest. With this gun and his partner he solo raided one of the seven demon lord MegaDungeons called "the dungeon of greed", in which he obtained "the ring of greed","Infinite Arms" and "All for one" of his equipment.

The next parts of his equipment were crafted from materials he got from a special event, called "Eternal Rivalry", involving a war between beast and dragon digimon. After a series of events he obtained the components for his "hyper" - gear and the "the ring of beasts" inside the Beast-Fraction. His digimon unlocked the X-Antibody upgrade and also received the legendary sword "Dramon Breaker", giving it a digivolution beyond it's current mega level in the Dragon-Fraction. The material for his "absolute" - gear,  and the "Tyrannic Breaker" were given to him after resolving the war.

The last event before the extension pack's release was at the very border of the current digimon world. There he found a secret dungeon, which he entered unknowingly. After another chain of events he obtained the components for his "zero"-gear and also his strongest and final weapon: "Hell's Gate".
