Professor Bharati is in charge of the education program at UtopiaNevada.  She is a driven and professional woman; her teaching style is strict and difficult, and she always pushes students to their utmost limits.  If Dr. Bharati has any failings as a teacher, it is that she occasionally forgets that her pupils do not always share her enthusiasm or mental stamina.

Dr. Bharati has advanced degrees in psychology, medicine, physics, and cultural anthropology.  She speaks 7 languages, and has been published in dozens of academic journals.  Her past is common knowledge.  She was a child prodigy, famous in India for solving difficult mathematical equations at only 5 years old.  Her parents moved to the United States to give her better educational opportunities, and Uma was given scholarships to several Ivy League Universities.  By her early 20's her work was already being published, and by her 30's she was one of the most sought after scientists in academia.  When Novas first appeared, she volunteered to work with Project Utopia, and they were happy to have her.  She has been with them ever since, and is currently working on numerous research projects in addition to her teaching (several of which are being conducted at the UtopiaNevada facility).
