The daughter of famous magician Zatara, and a member of the species Homo Magi, Zatanna ("Zee" to her friends), came into her powers while investigating her father's strange dissappearance.   Although the case has yet to be solved, she took a liking to adventuring and now fights crime, usually in the magical world, while running a magic shop and in semi-retirement from being a stage magician.

Zatanna is very pretty, with dark hair and eyes.  Her stage outfit of "sexy tuxedo", consisting of long-tailed jacket, white blousy top, black satin short-shorts, fishnets, black pumps and top hat, are mostly a thing of the past, unless she needs to "make an impression".   Her investigating days aren't behind her, she's just more subtle about it these days.
Her normal attire is more low-key, with jeans and a loose top, usually going with dressy sneakers.  Zatanna usually wears plenty of jewelry.
