Background:
Eysteinn Firdir, known by mortals as Asgeirr Hepne is, as his true name suggests from the western parts of Norway.
One of several sons of a farmer and his wife, he was taken by a raiding band of jotun sailing one of the many fjords of his native county.

After an age of servitude to a nasty Jotun who thought herself better than her station and who had struck gold with the clear voiced, entrancing minstrel she had caught, Eysteinn managed to break free from her hall through unclear circumstances.

Breaking free of the hedge he found his life was no more, neither those of his family or friends. He was alone and he felt the hounds of Jotunheim nipping at his heels.

He vowed to not settle until he was with friends, and spent the next period of his life travelling the lands, both on it's mundane roads, and also in the hedge.

Those who came to know Asgeirr knew a friendly face and a strong back to lend in return for shelter and a honest meal. He named himself skald and could always be relied to have a story or two to tell by the fireside.

The women who came to know him found someone eager to please their longings for their men gone to one of the many wars ravaging the land. Their fathers didn't always approve, so Asgeirr found it prudent to always have an exit strategy.

Eysteinn would never be far from his pack filled with instruments, both known and peculiar, some bought, some borrowed, some of his own creation.

What they didn't experience however, was the clear and piercing voice of his song. Feigning ineptitude in that field shielded the fact that he remained terrified that the trademark of his bondage in Jotunheim would carry to the ears of his Keeper, or of other hunters who might lurk in every shadow, behind every bush.

Mantle:

Eysteinn's mantle manifests itself like much of his personality, through sound. Anyone standing near him in quiet circumstances hear sounds of suspense and dread playing right on the edge of audible sound, almost more a feeling than actual music.
This effect fluctuates with Eysteinn's mood, creating a more profound effect when he is brooding and his mind goes to dark places, and less when he's merry and uplifted.
