Dayra

Name: Dayra
Gender: Female
Age:   19
Race: Beorc
Sexual Preference: Bisexual

Beorc Information:
Class: Squire (Prelude to Pegasus Knight)
Weapon -A slim lance, the head a well-kept silver and the shaft dark green like her armor.  It was a signature weapon, to be sure.  Lightly scribed at the rear end of its haft was her name.  It fit her well and did not weigh on her hand like her former weapon did (it is balanced properly).
- A regular, iron-headed spear in average condition.
-A knife better used as a tool than anything else.

Armor Appearance - Dayra's armor is now the light affair favored by a lot of Pegasus Knights.  She wears light gauntlets for hand protection during pitched rider's combat.  The light metal and leather armor includes small pauldrons over the shoulders and continues down her body until it ends up in boots.  Dark green formed up the majority of the armor, though white and silver sections were left.

Animal Appearance - Dayra has a beautiful white Pegasus named Shyne with green light barding/fittings.  The saddle is of the highest quality and well matches Dayra's armor.

Appearance:  Dayra is on the tan side, likely from long days in the fields and much exercise spent in the sun.  She is slender, almost unhealthily so.  If her equipment weren't to tell the story, one can tell she barely has the money to eat.  Her green hair is dirty and disorderly, never kept long except when she forgets to cut it.  She carries a simple sack with whatever possessions in it that she has with her.  Her gray eyes are honest, if nothing else.

Personality:  Dayra is somewhere between a realist and an idealist in way of thinking.  She aspires to great things that most people wouldn't have the stones for (to one day be a famed Pegasus Knight, for example) and, yet, doesn't flinch at having to cower under her rags when no one will shelter her from the cold nights.  She doesn't complain of those times, either, for they are what she grew up with.  However, if someone were to question her vision, she would likely grow incensed in ways many indignities could not affect her.

Backstory: Dayra is the last of a lowborn family's children.  She grew up with soldiers, men and women who wanted to fight, and criminals around her.  Almost everyone in her family knew something about fighting or liked to brawl for kicks.  They were in Caeli's outer provinces, so, most law was settled by whose blade was stronger than than who is or is not right.  Border guards might have gotten involved if it were along a trade route or some other area of importance, but this area was far enough out of the way.

Dayra, however, was the oddball.  She didn't like fighting.  Though fit and practiced in handling the clubs, sticks, and other weapons her family made use of, she just found it hard to actually strike someone and couldn't stand fast in the face of a blade.  Despite their sometimes violent or even criminal natures, though, her family tended to look after her when she couldn't.  It was a comfortable existence, compared to the people who often got in her family's way.  It toughened her up a little, but it didn't make her into an able warrior.

One day, she was depressed by the fact that she was so useless when her brother got killed taking a blow for her.  Wallowing in her shame while sitting by the main road, she noticed a sight she hadn't seen before.  It was a white horse with wings...just drinking from the lake like it was normal.  Despite the fact she had never seen a Pegasus before, she was even more confused by the fact that it was wearing a saddle.  She tried to get up to it, if only to get a better, longer look at it.  It let her approach.  She looked it over and, curious, tried to mount it.

She had no bigger shock in her life when it took off the second she was in the saddle.

There was no greater rush in her life than that moment, when she flew through the air for the very first time.  She held on for dear life as the horse flew and flew and flew.  Every turn, dive, and rise seemed to last for an eternity as she didn't dare open her eyes, lest she see the ground.  After the frightening experience, she only dared to look long enough to see that the horse had landed and practically fell out of the saddle.  Her whole body was shaking.

She felt so...alive!

The owner of the wing horse, however, was nearby.  She was an impressive blonde woman in light armor with a silvered lance that just gleamed in the daylight.  The lady couldn't help but laugh as she checked to make sure the Pegasus and the girl who took the impromptu ride were alright.

Dayra was thanked for finding the creature.  They were about to part ways when the girl realized she didn't know where she was, at all.  The Knight offered to take her to the city that she had been planning on going to, to pay her back for finding her mount.  Lady Celeste, as she referred to herself, even threw in some riding lessons and training in the art of the spear.  By the end of them, at least, Dayra could direct Midnight and manage ascent and descent.  Dayra and Lady Celeste went their separate ways, at the end, but not before the Pegasus Knight gifted the girl with her own chain shirt and a spear.

Finding her way home, suddenly, didn't seem as important anymore.  She missed her family, but she felt that she didn't have anything to go back to that could compare to what she could get to if she applied herself.  She could be a great warrior or hero one day!  Whether it was as a Pegasus Knight or even just a person riding a regular horse around!

Of course, even if those dreams are possible to achieve, she has a long way to go before she'll be anywhere near as powerful as her mentor.
