CHARACTER BACKGROUND/NOTES
Mother grew up in the dust bowl of Oklahoma.  Father grew up in the inner city, sent to the country during the summer due to growing racial violence.  Both educated and taking government jobs.  When there were signs of gang violence in the place they were raising a family, they moved farther out from the city, preferring the commute to the danger.  So Doug spent his early life in a growing town, and later in the country.  He found a love for the country life, of hard work and beauty.

He went to college and studied veterinary science with an interest in marine biology double majoring in botany, spending almost as much time in the greenhouse as in the animal pens.  Eventually landing a job with the University of Maryland Oceanic studies, aiding in the farming of Blue Channel Crabs for release into the bay.

Something his father, younger brother and he share, a love for the Chesapeake Bay and crabbing.  His Mother likes gardening, and his youngest sister is studying law.
