Standing a little taller than thigh height on a human, Brandt sports close-cropped brown hair and a tidy goatee. A fit adult hin, the innkeep is proportionally muscular for his size and very adroit, never stumbling or bumping into things; his awareness of his surroundings seems preternatural.

The well-coordinated hearthmaster has a cheerful mien, ready smile, quick laugh, and genuinely kind eyes. He is usually surrounded by the scents of cooking things, and dressed in practical, utilitarian clothing.

As a halfling from nearby Luiren, Brandt is a pacifistic and optimistic innkeeper with some training in the traditions of the unarmed warriors of his people, known as underfoot adepts. Among the founding settlers of Freehold, Brandt and his assistant, Marissa Brock, opened the village's first inn following the completion of the town center. He is a calm and private sort, respectful of others' differences and privy to much gossip and rumor (which he does not lightly repeat), but also occasionally given to fatherly lectures when he feels a guest or neighbor may be about to engage on a path which will result in ill will or damage to the community. He prefers to keep his faith private and tries to remain nonjudgmental of others' pasts.
