Trendal is a hair short for a man, with a slim frame tanned by travel and outdoor work. His brown hair is shoulder-length and perpetually tousled, as though he has just awoken. His storm-colored eyes are usually behind a pair of round, gold-rimmed spectacles, and when not wearing them, he develops a slight nearsighted squint.

As a healer, Trendal's clothing is obviously chosen for maximum comfort and mobility, consisting of light, loose white linen trousers, and matching shirts that are often partially unlaced to make them easier to strip off in a hurry for emergencies, either to serve as makeshift dressings or simply to get them out of the way. He is never without his "portable hospital" kit—a handy haversack filled with all the tools of the healer's trade—or his mithral ring, which bears two strange, tiny markings.

He is more than a bit shy, but always has a ready smile; he tends to hum when nervous.
