Born on Graham IV he was actually one of the few that was born on the surface rather than the orbiting stations.  Widespread nuclear bombardment leveled most of the planet's surface and destroyed the manufacturing complexes back during the Amaris Civil War.  A few cities remained after the Amaris troops left, being deemed to small to warrant a nuclear strike.  Those few focus on the little mining and refinement that can be done planet-side while the rest live in massive space stations orbiting the planet.  Only the family mech with its superior combat shielding allowed Adam to venture out into the wastes to scavenge, and even then there were sections that only much heavier mechs could hope to traverse safely.  There were few bleaker worlds that one could grow up on.

Having taken massive damage in the final battles of the Hoff Campaign it was a sad day when Carlyle made the decision to sell off the long held family mech.  He needed the funds to stay afloat and it was only because of the success of the campaign that an option was given to purchase a new line of prototype mechs that were being designed.  Working on an old concept but with new ideas the X-3c Power Loader, a designation that he knew needed a new name badly, became the basis for continuing the family fortunes.  She was lighter than his old Clint by almost ten tons but still as fast and more heavily armoured.  The weapons systems though was where he was wary...despite their assurances.  They were shorter ranged than he previous armament but the output curve was much greater.  Only time would tell...
