Physical Build/Description: A young woman, you might guess to be in her late teens, she stands at a decent five feet six inches.  Her obvious physical fitness is expressed in well-defined musculature and an athletic feminine figure with curves in all the right places in good proportion.  Everything is accentuated as she moves with a feline grace, powerful and fluid, perhaps even sultry.  She is pretty by many standards with a heart-shaped face, petite nose, full rouge lips, and smooth lightly tanned skin that radiates with its own soft light.  Her pretty face is framed with light brown wavy locks that would normally fall to her shoulders if they weren't perpetually tied in a pony tail.  Naturally long eye lashes accentuate her almond-shaped green eyes that burn with an inner intensity found in those older in experience.

Disposition: Often underestimated for her stature or sex, or so she perceives, she often is competitive and readily accepts challenges.  Generally quiet though until provoked she lacks a few people skills, which can sometimes get her or her squadmates into trouble at the bar.  In training she's very intense and focused, which will hopefully translate well in real combat.  She is a bit of a risk taker, and often enjoys things that really get the adrenaline going.

She tries acting like just one of the guys, but lately she's grown her hair a little longer than her former boyish flop, although it's perpetually tied in a pony tail, and has developed physically as a woman.  It's something that's very strange to her now as she wrestles with her own identity.  What she needs is a strong female role model, which had been lacking in her life up to this point.

Outlook on Earth: She was born there, but has never really seen it.  She is eager to “return” there to fight the Invid Invasion, and probably more importantly to her to find her father.
Prejudices & Paranoia: She has grown up around Zentraedi, and their often half-human children. She is accepting of many races, and her own mixed ethnic background makes her sensitive to anyone, and will often stand up to bullying or direct discrimination of others.

Background/History: Karma Murphy was born October 31, 2022 -- her father, First Lieutenant Jack Murphy, was a RDF Marine pilot stationed in Japan for training; her mother, Aniko Kitano, who was a local bar waitress, passed away at birth.  Her father, an honor-bound Marine officer, felt obligated to take care of her, his illegitimate daughter.  In a way he resented her for 'slowing' him down.  However, he did his best, but he really would have preferred a boy and he made no illusions about it.  She spent much of her young life trying to live up to his expectations making her the perpetual tomboy that everyone teased.  This is in part why Karma eventually joined the UEEF and why she has personality conflicts with most people.

Her father fought in the Global Civil War, and later as a VT pilot against the Zentraedi.  Naturally Major Murphy would volunteer to be a part of the United Earth Expeditionary Force (UEEF) mission to seek out the Robotech Master’s homeworld.  Karma, only an infant at the time would be brought aboard the Tokugawa-class ship UES Grant as a military dependent.  She grew up on-board the UES Grant in the years following and did her best to stay out of trouble in school.  Her father would eventually marry a young waitress, Candy Kane, that was only about 6 years older than Karma herself at the time.  This only caused further angst for the emotionally stunted, physically blossoming, young teenage girl of 15 years old.  She tried her best to enlist in the UEEF, but 15 was still a little young for even the bolstering expeditionary forces.

Eventually word of the invasion of the Invid back on Earth would prompt an Expeditionary Force to be sent, the 10th Mars Division, and Colonel Murphy volunteered only a year after marrying Candy.  Candy was left to care for Karma, much to the latter’s dismay.  The relationship was tenuous to say the least, but when news of the 10th Mars Division having been decimated over Earth and Colonel Murphy being MIA, presumed KIA reached them the two parted ways.

At the ripe age of 17 she enlisted in the UEEF aboard the UES Grant against her father's last wishes.  Although her father was a well-respected VT pilot in the UEEF Marines, she managed to convince the Navy recruiter to take her on.  She enlisted as a Veritech Pilot thanks to an age waiver for scoring so well on the mental and physical aptitude batteries, and despite not having any college education she was recommended for Officer's Candidate School, a necessary part of becoming a pilot.  She was in the pipeline for basic training through OCS to flight school for nearly three years (!) before getting her first assignment to the Grim Reapers aboard the UES Gambit, one of the new Chimera-class ships in the fleet.  She had hoped to leave with the second expeditionary force to reclaim Earth, and possibly even find her father, but she was still in training when they left for their doomed mission.

She had trained long and hard, had been a tomboy because her father hated her (or so she thought) and wanted a boy, and finally it meant something, that she could be a pilot -- a Veritech Pilot, like her father.  She passed all of her testing and schools with flying colors.  Despite her young age she managed to graduate near the top of her class in flight school, but she narrowly missed being the honor graduate because of her unofficial disciplinary record.  Her winning personality almost had her bounced a few times, and only by her father's reputation, unbeknownst to her, along with her natural abilities did she get a pass.

Callsign – “Roughrider”.  It all started as she was being referred to as a “diamond in the rough” by many of her instructors throughout her training.  It didn’t become “Roughrider” until she broke the record time for staying on the mechanical bull at the country western-themed bar “The Roadhouse” on the UEEF colony Eden, where part of her flight training took place.
