Mahalina (Lina) Rae Powell.  Born August 28, 1957. Mixed race white/Filipino.

Her father was a Navy Seabee working on the construction of Cubi Point NAS in the Phillipines.  Her mother was a local girl who ran a concession stand near the main gate.  They met and eventually got married and later returned to the states. She was the 2nd of 3 children, the others being brothers. Lina grew up a Navy brat, living in California, Japan, Phillipines and Hawaii at various times.

Graduate of Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Civil Engineering.  Minor in Humanitarian Technology Applications.  She joined the Peace Corps to pay for college and found that she enjoyed the work.  Since then she has worked with a couple different NGOs doing humanitarian projects. The last organization was Morrow sponsored. She has spent the last few years working in Haiti, Chile, Nepal, and the Phillipines.

Outdoor enthusiast but not a gun person. (Hiking, camping, climbing) Veteran of the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails and has climbed a few of the less technical Colorado 14ers.

Living father who works for DOD in Cheyenne, WY and younger brother. Her mother and older brother were killed in a car accident a few years ago.  She was once briefly engagement to be married but it fell through due to her career.
