Appearance: Tall, blonde, almost unnecessarily handsome, and well-muscled, Ancelyn has a sense of complete confidence in himself, and in the justice and the right of his cause. He is seldom to be seen unarmed.

Personality: Ancelyn is confident to the point of arrogance, and does have a tendency to look down on those he considers to be mere peasants. However, he is a good man at heart, chivalrous and honest. Nevertheless, he is far too confident in everything he does. Indeed, he is almost pathologically incapable of believing that he can fail at any task, especially combat. He is brave beyond measure, and has unshakable determination. This all means that he has a tendency to end up in situations that are far worse than he predicted on a regular basis. But, since he believes he is undefeatable and invincible, he does not worry about such things.

History: Ancelyn is the son of Sir Gawain, and as such was one of King Arthur's most trusted knights in the last days of the King's reign, and the great-nephew of the famous King. As Knight Commander of the Britons, he lead the armies of the British in the final battles of Arthur's reign. Following the supposed death of Arthur, he was drawn through a trans-dimensional portal, and found himself in modern Britain. Here, he identified the Doctor as Merlin, and pledged himself to defending the realm against the armies of Morgaine the Sorceress.

During this escapade, he met one of the few people capable of besting him in single combat. Brigadier Winifred Bambera impressed him so much that his head was turned. Following the defeat of Morgaine, their attraction followed the natural course, and they were eventually married. Since then, they have lived happily, though they remain constantly ready to fight those who threaten their realm. Ancelyn is never happier than when he is in battle, and readily looks for any chance he can get to solve matters with his muscles.
