Nainsi Hameldon

Growing up in a predominately human neighborhood with her human mother was tough on Nainsi. Despite growing up slower than the other children, she managed to learn how to fit in and seem human. Throughout her childhood, and after her mother's death, the Stonewell family befriended her, giving her a place to go when she had none. When she felt she'd worn out her welcome, she survived on the streets before moving on to other cities in search of work. As a result, she came into the employ of Remmonet, a somewhat less than scrupulous merchant. Hired on as a clandestine bodyguard, Nainsi used her skills, learned the hard way during her travel alone, to keep Remmonet's traders safe without being too obvious about it.

As luck would have it, Remmonet paired her multiple times with Aron, one of his young traders. After several such trips, the pair grew close. And then Nainsi discovered that Aron, like her, was concealing his true self. In fact, Aron was Ahrendue, not a young male trader, but a young female trader. Nainsi vowed to keep her friend's secret and they have traveled together ever since.

Nainsi's only other regular companion is her dog, a Great Dane named Jester.
