Cassidy Byrne

Name: Cassidy Byrne
Gender: Female
Age: 27

Hair: Wavy Long Brown
Eyes: Ice Blue

Appearance: Cassidy is an attractive woman, standing at 5'6" she has a lithe, well kept figure. One that does not scream 'current athlete' but one that grew up playing sports and keeps in shape with a decent daily gym visit. She has clean pale skin and long darker brown hair that she almost always has tied up. She has ice blue eyes that are brought out further by the natural looking makeup she wears. Her style differs depending on the day and what she is doing. Working at a well known fashion and woman's magazine keeps her well dressed with all the latest fashion trends, albeit most of the wardrobe is from the sample closet or paid for by 'clothing bonuses' given to the employees to keep them dressing 'properly'. She is not, however, one to know what the trends are, most of the outfits being selected with the help of coworkers at the magazine. When at home or out with friends she tends to dress in a more comfortable style, while still keeping some of the fringes and flare from her day job. She is rarely seen without a kind-hearted smile on her face and there is a spark in her eyes that rarely ever fades, an optimism that almost seems infectious to those around her.

Markings/Scars/Tattoos: She has one large 6-8 inch scar in the center of her chest where it'd been cracked open to get at her heart after a traumatic incident in the field. She has several other scars on her torso from the same event and other smaller ones from other various occurrences also accrued while 'in the field'. She tends to cover them while in public but will answer any questions about them if noticed or asked.

Voice: Cassidy is soft spoken, while she was found and grew up in Ireland, her accent has since diminished to only a slight one after years of living in New York and occasionally working on her own diction. Although during most situations her accent is slight, if she gets drunk, is over-tired or in an altered or overly-relaxed state it tends to become more apparent and thicker.

Personality: Cassidy is headstrong and confident. She is also a strong-willed individual, going after a story or a source until she gets the information she needs or when fighting for a cause. While she is positive and charismatic, she is also not stupid. She has a great deal of street-smart and can be equally as deceptive or underhanded if she feels she is being played. If she has a strong enough cause that she believes in and will defend it to the last. She has a strong sense of motivation and enjoys keeping herself busy and involved in the community while remaining as worldly and cultured as possible. She is also very territorial. What is hers, is hers and she will defend it as best she can whether its her friends, apartment, or her motivation behind writing a segment. She is a bit of a romantic, although having only had several relationships in her lifetime she is an awkward romantic and tends to enjoy keeping herself busy than trying to figure out why 'nobody likes her'. While she may put on airs that she doesn't need a boyfriend she secretly dreams of her 'prince charming'. She is a very charming individual who can light up a room by being in it.That said, she does not aim to be the center of attention or life of the party. She is very casual and unassuming, and always with a smile on her face or in her eyes when in social situations. Even if she hates you, you wouldn't know it unless she wanted you to.

History: Cassidy's life before she showed up at the police station in a small town in is a blank. At about the age of 2 she was found wandering around alone in a public park at sundown. When asked about her parents she had no response and when asked for her name she apparently gave the family who found her, and the officers 'Cass' as a response. After a lack of response on the Missing Child report the township gave her a name 'Cassidy', and entered her into 'the system'.

She was sent to an orphanage where she remained until she was three. Most of her life in the orphanage she doesn't remember. It wasn't bad... but it certainly didn't match the life she was brought into by the Brynes.

They were a wealthier couple, lower-upper class or upper-middle class if there was a distinction needed. They were unable to have children of their own and so adopted Cassidy, who's spark, quick wit and humor captivated Mrs. Byrne when they first arrived at the orphanage. Both of her parents were successful business types, having made money early in their lives they were now working not only to grow their businesses but give back. She was brought up to respect the arts, and cultured at every opportunity. Cassidy herself also refused to be limited in what she learned and was involved in. She loved school. Attending a mid-level academy  partitally because she hated the higher-level airs the other academies put on and also as to save her parents some money, although it was unnecessary. She requested, however, that the money they saved by her going to a mid-level go to several charities.

When Cassidy was 16 the Byrnes moved to the New York area so that Mr. Bryne could work more with expanding globally from the stronger headquarters there. She continued her schooling, ever being a bookworm. She continued to excel. Choosing upon graduation to go to college for journalism.

Much like high school she was a hard worker and pressed to get the best grades possible while being involved with the school's newspaper, following and reporting on the more gritty stories and taking internships that had her traveling and reporting on poverty, corruption and other 'untouchable stories'. She didn't ever seem to mind though. She wanted voices to be heard and stories to be told, believing if someone heard them things would change, if only a little.

Upon completion of graduate school her father had offered to use his connections to get her a job at the New Yorker, the Times and several other larger publications in the city and globally. Cassidy however, politely declined. She loved her parents but decided that from that point forward she was not going to use what they had earned to get her further in life. She had taken enough of their time and good graces and wanted to earn her success on her own terms, work for it and earn it as they had.

Unfortunately, most of her first choice employers were not currently hiring. And even with her stunning portfolio and internships, she held back from the positions offered for other, more personal reasons. With her usual hard work and determination, however, she managed to find a job at one of the largest publications in the city of New York. A fashion and woman's lifestyle magazine. It paid enough to get her a decent one bedroom in Brooklyn and allowed her to pay her own way, even giving an occasional 'clothing allowance' to make sure she was up to date on her fashion. After a couple of years of hard work she finally managed to work her way up to Head Writer for the magazine, all the while requesting they cover something more serious like the current situations over seas and the struggles the women there were facing, and all the while being shot down. While she is not 'in love' with the job, she has yet to find an opening into one of the places she truly wants to be and so, stays where she is.

On her own time she goes to the gym and explores the city and writes articles and pieces for smaller non-profit and 'underground' magazines and volunteers at the local Boys and Girls clubs. The pieces she writes on the side tend to focus on the issues of education in the inner city, the child drug rings and an issue close to her heart, the foster care and orphanages in the area and support that they get and can be provided.
