Harkness is a man in his late middle years with a salt and pepper beard braided and littered with ornaments of bone and copper. He is short and thin but with a wiry frame.

His clothes are leathers and wools fit for the harsh roads of the Savage North.

His eyes hint at suspicious scorn and his mouth is crooked. Wrinkles and years of hard weather have taken their toll on a man nobody would consider handsome.
