Olfin

Olfin is tall (about 6 foot) and at only 120 pounds she looks a little thin even for an Aelon.  She wears her hair about medium length but pulled tightly into a bun when she's working with Bessa as an apprentice herbist.
Olfin's hair is light blonde with even lighter green highlights and her eyes are light blue. She's usually  wearing a long green tunic belted at the waist and soft boots the color of new grass.
She's very curious about how to make new things and about what makes things work.
Olfin has worked with almost every craftsperson in town, learning a little about each craft in turn. Not enough to be useful though, she basically watched closely while a few things were made in each shop before she went to work in earnest with the village herbwife.
Phraed and Oethel are traders but they trade in more than goods. The couple starts heading North with a load of goods made in The Homeland. At each stop the pair work with local craftsmen, learning more of their trades, customs and information while passing on information and techniuques they've picked up in other places. After several years of working and traiding a few goods they pack back up the new goods and the old goods to move further Northward.

It's been this way since just after the loss of magic when Aelon society was almost destroyed. Other races hunted them down and forced all the surviving Aelon to return to the homeland. A council was formed by the most powerful houses to find ways to break the other races and establish an Aelon empire. Soon the wise and clever ones stepped in as advisors and helped schedule what would be discussed and what would be debated. Shorly afterwards representtives of the craftsmen became involved and the council made decisions about how to increase their own power, preserve their lives and livelihoods, as well as save their knowledge, skills and culture.
It was decided that each Aelon would record all that he or she knew or could remember. These stories and lessons were stored in several different places so that a surprise raid or disaster would not wipe it all out. Magic still had its traditional place in society and every Aeon is tested and taught what they are able to learn. Teams of traders would be sent out to the other races, to learn from them, teach them, gather information on local customs and to help them prosper by trading with them. Every Aelon will periodically return to the homeland to record their new knowledge, teach the new methods to other craftsmen and report on any advances in the use of magic.

Phraed and Oethel are in the Holds now studying from the brewers and buying the best small keg of brandy each year and bringing in the late fall berries for brewing just after the first frost hits them. Every 4 or 5 years, on average, comes a winter hard enough to cold distill some of the last season's brew. The casks are buried in the ice until it freezes. Since the alchohol freezes last and thaws first the water and impurities trapped in the water can be removed as ice. After several times through this process the drink is smoother and stronger even before being aged in barrels to form a fine fruit brandy.
They learned the process in the far North and brought it with them when they arrived on the trip back South, just over 20 years ago. Olfin was born on that trip and has spent almost her entire life in the Hold. Her parents have told her about brothers and sisters on the road South, but she's never met them. All of them would have the same Sun mark that she has, left from the fine silver sun necklace that she uses to help her focus on healing spells. There's no burn, but when she started casting her spells the energy overflowed the focus and marked her skin permanently.
Pretty soon it will be time for the parents to move south and Olfin will have to decide whether to leave with them or to stay with her forest , knowing that she'll eventually need to move on to the South herself and visit the homeland to learn more about herself and her people.
