Jim Bolt is a mechanical engineer from the East End of London. He claims to be a ‘proper Cockney’, having been  born within the sound of Bow Bells, but since moving away for a university education, he has lost much of his accent.

He reckons the ‘Bolt - engineer’ joke got old fifty years ago.

He ran his own engineering business for forty years before retiring to a Georgian property on Cranborne Chase. His wife died a few years ago and they never had children. Jim still enjoys ‘tinkering’, and the Collapse has given his tinkering a new momentum.
