Half a dozen generations back, one of Sir Charles’ ancestors was granted a baronetcy for services rendered to the Crown during the Civil War.

Sir Charles’ estate, Graydown, including the tenant hamlet of Edgecombe, sits near the larger village of Allton in Hertfordshire and brings him a tidy income which he supplements by stock trading in the city. For this purpose, Sir Charles keeps a modest town house, number 12, Harrington Court.

Sir Charles is a shrewd businessman and, although not unkind, he can be somewhat selfish, bordering on hedonistic. He tends to treat women as business propositions, and whilst he is not averse to a few take-overs, he is not currently looking for a merger...

Sir Charles had a strict policy when it came to women. It was unseemly to dirty one’s own doorstep. His staff and tenants were out of bounds, and that ruled out anyone from Edgecombe. Allton was a little close for stirring up scandal, though not strictly out of bounds, but London was much better. There was a certain anonymity about London, even for a baronet.

Note for proposed intermingling of back stories:
I'm leaning toward Charles having gone to Eton (where he may have met Sir John), followed by a stint in the army (where he may have met William), so he probably spent most of his second decade and part of his third away from the village. Even now, he probably spends more than half his time in London.
However, he could easily have met (or re-met after childhood) anyone during the intermittent occasions he was 'home' over the years.
He may have had the odd dalliance with a local girl, but Sir Charles tends to keep his own doorstep clean, and most of his antics are confined to London. I'm not proposing that there are any young Charlies or Charlenes in or around Allton. Of course, one cannot always control one's reputation, deserved or not. It could make for some interesting developments.

Hussar Uniform.
