Lady Emma North

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Date of Birth: 25th of November, 1795
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 110 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue, with a milky haze
Appearance: Emma has a pale complexion and soft wavy blonde hair.  Her classic good features are mared only by her sightless, milky blue eyes.  As befitting a daughter of an earl, she is always dressed in the latest fashions with her hair stylishly coifed.
Personality: Emma is a quite and demure young lady although she can be quite witty amongst friends.  She has found that listening to how people say things is almosts as important as what they say and has cultivated  an earnest talent in listening carefully.  She is often a sympathetic ear for the servants of Windemere.

History: Emma is the first born of the (4th) Earl of Guilford, Lord Rubert North and his first wife, Lady Winifred.  Unfortunately, the family suffered a double tragedy when both baby Emma and her mother both fell ill a few months later.  Lady Winifred died and while Emma survived, she was blind. Her father remarried but no children were born of that union and he went to court to have the marriage put aside due to a breach in the marriage contract (specifically that his new wife was to give him two male heirs).  It took him several years to find another wife due to this but eventually he married a social climbing young woman who was willing to take the risk.  Emma's new mother, one Lady Hestia Bowthorpe, is a demanding shrew who doesn't like being around the blind child and to be sure it is a loveless marriage on the part of both parties.  However she was able to give the Earl three children, two boys and a girl; Charles, Helena, and Gilbert.

Despite her unfortunate beginnings in life, Emma was educated by a personal tutor from the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles of Paris.  Not only did she learn to move about freely in her home with the help of a walking stick, but excelled in playing both the harp and the pianoforte and developed a lovely singing voice.  She is fluent in both the French and Italian languages. While she did learn how to read raised letters, she found it very difficult and doesn't care for it.  Instead a female reader was employed, one Eliza Heathcote.  Eliza is the daughter of a vicar who was educated to be a governess.  In addition to being her reader, Miss Heathcote acts as Lady Emma's chaperone and companion.

Hobbies: Poetry, Music and Singing, and Literature.
Likes: Walks, cats, good conversation, dancing
Dislikes: her step-mother, rude or cruel people
Love Interest(if any): Emma is looking to find someone she can get along with and maybe even some day love.  While she desires to get away from her step-mother, she isn't willing to marry just anyone, she is the daughter of an earl after all.

     when they meet.
