History: Marianne is the daughter of Sir William Marke and Lady Elizabeth Wyndham. Having lived far and wide for all her young life on account of her fathers career within the diplomatic corps, recently she has resided in London. Presently Marianne, along with her younger brother Robert and her governess Miss Rossiter, has come to live at Markham Hall under the watchful eye of her uncle Sir John Marke, her fathers widowed elder brother while her parents travel throughout India in service to the Crown.
