Appearance:

Pretty in a subdued way, Hannah Chamberlain is not one to draw the eye or turn heads initially. Like a fine wine that needs to breathe, she is better appreciated after some time has been spent in her company. Petite and slender; Hannah presents as the gentlewoman she was raised to be. Strictly brought up, and well-educated for a woman by the day's standard; she is gracious and refined, sober yet engaging without preposition.

Personality:

Neither too timid, nor too meek, Hannah Chamberlain is a lady with spirit and a certain presence. Eldest daughter of the Right Reverend Ralph Udall, Bishop of Winchester; Hannah possesses a reputation that is entirely above reproach. A widow for three years since a carriage accident tragically took the lives of her husband and young son, Hannah has recently come out of mourning. Yet, whether she ignores her sorrow or tries to laugh at herself, loneliness contaminates her days. She yearns to marry once more and once again experience the happiness which had been so brutally and unexpectedly stripped from her three years past.

History:

Once more under the Bishop of Winchester's roof and bound by her father's strict protection, Hannah feels oppressed and truly at odds in the world. It is a strange and disturbing thought. Her once orderly, well-planned life had been turned upside down. She'd had a comfortable vision of herself as a loving wife and lifetime partner; a vision in which she managed a household, raised children, and was a comfort to her husband. But when the coach carrying her husband and child overturned, that shimmering bubble of a dream had burst. --But no one passes through life unscathed, she thinks. She wonders if that is true, and if she will be blessed to live and love again.
