Benedict exemplifies the best and worst of what it means to be an Amberite.  On the one hand, he is brave, loyal and more given to familial affection than most.  In fact, the rumors would suggest that he treasures his siblings and his children so deeply because of how deeply the loss of his brothers Osric and Finndo hit him.

But Benedict also bears the curse of Cymnea's line, the "mark of doom," that shadows and informs all of his choices.  Besides that, he can be short-tempered, judgmental and sarcastic.
