The Leannán Sí is a beautiful muse of Aos Sí "People of the Barrows". She is an Unseelie who offers inspiration to an artist in exchange for love and devotion that generally results in gradual madness for the artist, as well as premature death. Some say these fae spirits have vampiric tendencies. In seeking the love of mortals, if the mortal refuses a Leannán Sí then she must become their slave. If they consent, they are hers and can only escape by finding another to take their place. The fae woman lives on and the artist wastes away, for she is a restless being.
