 | Nation: Avalon Profession: Almshouse aide, 'Sister of Charity' Appearance: Above Average, though she is much too unassuming and kindly for the casual observer to take notice of her comeliness. Age: 18 Height: 5'5" Of note: Mildred, known as "Millie" to those who have come to rely heavily upon her kindness and charity, works as an almshouse aid and caretaker during the day, while her evening hours are spent tending to the children of the Zee Flats. She prepares their dinner, reads them stories, and tucks them in at night while their mother's are tending to business next door at Madame Cresswell's. In essence, Millie is a den mother and doctor's aid, what those of the Vatacine faith might label as a Sister of Charity. Even though she isn't of their faith, her works are those of charity and kindness. Not much past Age of Majority, Millie never speaks of a family of her own, but perhaps that's because no one has ever inquired. She showed up on the Baines Almshouse steps at the young age of 12 or 13, asking to be of assistance, and even offered to do so without pay. If one where to ask Dr. Thomas Baines, he would simply state that there was an earnestness and light in the girl that he didn't have the heart to refuse. She has been working for him ever since. ...And he actually pays her. Millie is gracious, kind, and thoughtful, always ready to lend a helping hand and never asks for anything in return. She's very introverted, though not in the least timid, unless it comes to a flirtatious man...then some bashfulness sets in. While she may not speak up often, Millie has an inner strength and courage that is palpable to those who take the time to discern. They might also find a long sorrow in her olive green eyes, though her frequent smiles portray optimism and hope beyond any disquiets of her past. |
