Kronin son of Krolin

Appearance: This young Dwarf is broad of shoulder, with a hairy barrel chest and notable girth and stature. He probably weighs more than most Human men and keeps his auburn hair cut short, with a full unadorned beard worn down to his breast for practicalities sake. His nose was badly smashed some time in the past, leaving him with a notable bump on the bridge.

His dark green eyes are slightly sunken beneath bushy eyebrows with a tendency to squint from long days staring into the sun. He has a weathered, rugged sort of countenance that suggests that he has spent a fair amount of time in the open over the years

He favors sturdy clothing of dark green that matches his eyes and bear fur trim.

Equipment:

When abroad or expecting trouble, he is clad in the Armor of Vili, son of Var

This unusual set of Banded Mail and Shield came into Kronins possession during his time in Erebor. Forged of an unknown blued metal by the Dwarves of Balli's folk in the Third Age, it calls to mind a great horned reptile, perhaps a Drake or Dragon at first glance. The fearsome looking war helm has horns swept back on either side, while the hauberk resembles a thick hide of overlapping scales. The gauntlets and greaves continue the pattern, with curved claws cleverly wrought at the ends of each.

The shield (of the same blued metal) is large, oval, and resembles a great coiled serpent with a a terrible head, its fanged maw agape at its center.

At his hip is Cambeleg, an axe found in the ruins of Minas Úvanimor that was originally of Elfish manufacture and was presumably lost or captured during the siege of that place during the Second Age. It hewed the neck of the unliving Delos, a Captain of Mordor and a veteran of the Battle of Dagorlad.

History: Kronin, son of Krolin is a Dwarf of Broadbeam descent who was born in Gond-Amon, amid the eastern range of the Blue Mountains just six years before the Battle of Dale. He was mostly brought up among the smaller outposts that ring the ruins of Belegost where his father was among those entrusted to protect the shipments of Ore down into Eriador.

Raised on fireside tales of his Grandfather, Kromdin, who campaigned in The War of Dwarves and Orcs under Thráin II, Kronin chose to follow his Father into the Soldiering trade, despite the relatively low pay and status that their family had descended into following the death of Kromdin at the Battle of Azanulbizar.

Of serious countenance, Kronin none the less is good of heart and is widely considered a worthy son. He has thus far followed in the steps of his father as a Caravan guard and occasional sell sword for his people.
