Thrir son of Thrur

Thrir, son of Thrur, was just over the average height of a dwarf. He was slender for a dwarf, though not a slender as an elf but slimmer than some humans. His hair was red, and his beard likewise. He had his beard braided into four different braids each affixed with a silver band. His eyes were brown, but if the light hit them just right there was a tint of red to them. He wore leather armor and carried a medium shield. That wasn't the only oddity of this dwarf, it seems he prefers swords over axes, with both a short sword and longsword on his belt. He also carried a short bow and a horseman's mace slung on his back.

Thrir's secret:

You live in Erebor, but your family wasn't originally from there.  You came from the Ered Luin (Blue Mountains) in western Eriador when you were a young dwarf.  Your family was fairly wealthy, and, when your old father died you were to inherit half of all he had; enough to make any dwarf happy.  However, your older brother was quite selfish and thought all the family's riches should be his as the oldest son.  You and Thurin has some bitter arguments, and eventually you caught your brother taking everything for himself.  When your mother rebuked  him , he struck her, fleeing your halls and cursed you both.  That was twenty years ago and since then you and your mother have come to live in Erebor.  You have done well here, though you will never make back what Thurin stole.  You still often wonder where your brother is.  Your mother is older now and is still angry with him.; she refuses to even speak his name.

So the original conflict was in the Blue Mountains, and your anger would have been directed to the Firebeard King there, if he was involved at all.  Then you and your mother moved to Erebor to start anew.  Once settled in the Lonely Mountain your Mother petitioned King Thorin to look into the matter, but a Lord of the King's Council, (Lord Svar son of Svor) threw out your petition, saying:

"The King under the Mountain has no time to delve into this affair.  It occurred in another realm and would be best left there.  If you would have justice, ask the Blue Mountain King, if he will deign to listen."

Such a dismissive response disheartened Thrir's mom considerably and she did not mention it again.  Thrir may well blame King Thorin for this, but in truth, unknown to Thrir, King Thorin never even saw your petition.
