Quite a few years past his teenage years, David is or was a police officer, a forensics specialist with a Ph.D. in biochemistry. He was also in his department's SMILE (Safety Magic In Law Enforcement) program as a hapless hobo clown. As a gamer, he could be counted on to come up with some of the oddest, quirkiest spells for his wizardly or clerical characters to use, and had a eyebrow-raising collection of obscure games and supplements he used as idea mines.
