The custom in a village of Girran is for the Shaman in charge of the naming
ceremony to consume several gallons of hallucinogens and wander out into the
swamp. The thing that catches his attention most on this "spirit journey" is
to be given to the name of the child. When twins were born, the two shamans
in charge of the naming ceremony each consumed their respective gallons of
hallucinogens and wandered out into the swamps. When the shaman returned, the
blue Girran was named "Mushrooms Growing on a Stump". He was nicknamed
"Stumpy" by his tribe.
