Patrick Donnelly

Patrick Donnelly stands six foot two inches tall and weighs around two hundred and ten pounds, plus or minus what and where he has been the last month or two. His complexion has been called, well, let us just say he wears cloths not sunscreen. With Blue eyes and red hair he might be called good looking if it were not for the burn scare on the left side of his face and his left ear almost gone.

Born in Alemeda California to a former Marine officer and his Marine nurse wife, a lot was expected of Patrick. He was intelligent enough and he worked hard enough but somehow he was always getting average grades and that was not good enough for his father. Of course the fact that he spent a good deal of time at home after being suspended for fighting tended to modify his grades, a fact that never seemed to affect his fathers opinion.

Patrick joined the Marine Corps more as a way to prove his fathers opinion of him wrong than any desire to be a life time Marine. However when he was selected to go into the sniper program his interest and enthusiasm went up by leaps and bounds. The fact he was promoted ahead of a lot of others helped his self confidence as well.

Lance Corporal Donnelly was not seeking to insult his father when he did not reup with the Corps but moved to the Army, he was looking to make a career of the military and the Army promotion system was way more attractive. His choice seemed to be right as promotion and selection to special units followed term after term. So did more than a few commendations and choice assignments.

With a Bronze star, a Silver Star and two purple hearts arose an offer of a direct commission to First Lieutenant. Now an Officer Donnelly was looking at another ten years or more in the service that is until a small disturbance at the Officers club at Fort Benning where he had been posted to the Training school as an instructor. It seems that Officers do not settle disagreements the way non-commissioned personnel do, it also seems that transportation Majors have no sense of humour concerning their abilities as soldiers or more properly concerning the opinion of junior officers of that ability. The Major made the mistake of telling a very sensitive Irish first lieutenant that is was a shame gentlemen had to put up with potato diggers in the Army. The Major is expected to recover sufficiently to resume active duty, in time.

With twenty years in and the offer of not being court martialled if he took his retirement and the advice that his skills with a rifle and the having been an airborne ranger and having earned and worn the Green beret, serving four years with the Special Forces, could get him employment at a good salary almost anywhere in the world, former first Lieutenant Patrick Allen Donnelly is now an independent contractor.
