Roberto Guardez is tall, fit and classically Spanish-looking with dark eyes and hair. His family come from Gallicia and he has had a life-long dislike of Gallician Clans who make up Spain's mafia. In 1987 his cousin Theresa was murdered by a clan heroin importer and this strongly influenced him to join the Guardia Civil and join the war on the clans.

After his time in academy he devoted all his energies to joining the elite Unidad Especial de Intervención, or UEI. This UEI is the main counter-terrorism unit of the Guardia Civil and here Roberto learned the trade of the anti-terrorist paramilitary.

However, Roberto was the youngest member of his unit and drastic fiscal cut-backs forced him to be transferred to a more mundane unit to save his training and skills until funds allowed for the UEI to be enlarged again. However Roberto chafed under the boredom of provincial policing and left the Guardia Civil Civil for greener, but probably less legal pastures.

Roberto has served overseas on many missions including SWAT training in Afghanistan, liaison in Columbia and the USA as well as cross-training in a variety of countries.
