Sheriff Markhamm is a native of Ten Towns, having risen up from the ranks of guardsman to sheriff during his nearly 20 years of service to the town of Bryn Shander. He bears the scars of many battles, the most prominent of which runs from his brow to his left chin, just barely missing his eye. This, a reminder of a close encounter with a tundra bear many years ago.

He acts and speaks bluntly but none can question his dedication to ensuring the safety and protection of Bryn Shander.
