History:
Nimue's upbringing was marked by unique circumstances that shaped her into the young woman she is today. Born to the Duke and Duchess of Ashbourne, Nimue's early years were spent in Austria due to her mother's complicated pregnancy and subsequent health challenges. The Duchess's mysterious prolonged illness and confinement to their Austrian estate required the family to remain in Austria for an extended period. During her time in Austria, Nimue developed a deep connection with her Austrian heritage. Surrounded by the vibrant culture, she absorbed the language, traditions, and artistic expressions of the country. The rich tapestry of Austrian history fascinated her, inspiring a lifelong love for adventure and discovery.

As she grew older, Nimue's father, lacking knowledge on raising a girl and refusing to shrug it off to a governess or a distant relative, took on the unconventional approach of teaching her the duties and obligations typically associated with the role of a male heir. He believed that Nimue possessed a unique perspective and potential to improve upon the responsibilities of their noble lineage. Under her father's tutelage, she gained a comprehensive understanding of estate management and ship building, preparing her to take on the mantle of leadership. For the Duke of Ashbourne, an unwavering guardian of his family's noble lineage, possessed both a progressive spirit and a keen eye for his daughter Nimue's exceptional qualities and capabilities. Deep within his heart, he nurtured the belief that she held all the necessary virtues to become a worthy successor to the esteemed duchy.

Through consultations with learned legal minds, her father unearthed a revelation - a long-forgotten clause nestled within the ancient charter of the duchy. This provision, forged in the crucible of bygone times when the duchy encountered comparable circumstances, granted the possibility of a daughter's inheritance, a rare occurrence indeed. With this newfound knowledge in hand, Duke Charles John embarked on a journey to reshape the legacy of their family, seeking the required permissions from the Crown and other esteemed authorities. His ardent persuasion, grounded in Nimue's extraordinary qualifications and capabilities, finally swayed the powers that be.

The Duke, after traversing the labyrinthine corridors of legal processes and securing the Crown's assent, instigated a change to the duchy's succession rules. However, an addendum, a condition tinged with caution, accompanied this alteration. The authorities insisted that the mantle of the Duke of Ashbourne could pass to a worthy female heir, but only under the auspices of a respectable marital alliance. Failure to fulfill this condition, come the Duke's eventual passing, would not only cause the title to slip from their grasp but also jeopardize the very fabric of their ancestral shipyard, as it would revert to the embrace of the Crown itself.

Recognizing the importance of a well-rounded education and preparing her for this responsibility, Nimue's father sent her to a prestigious finishing school in England and even to friends and family across the isle. It was there that Nimue expanded her intellectual horizons, engaging in philosophical debates, refining her cultural knowledge, and honing her social graces. And while this delayed her debut, it also provided her with a platform to connect with other women of noble birth, young and old alike, which ultimately resulted in her having someone to replace her mother when it was her time to be presented at court. Nimue's unique upbringing, enriched by her time in Austria and the unconventional education provided by her father, has prepared her to leave an indelible mark on the Ashbourne legacy and potentially at society at large during this Season.

Living or Dead Family:
Father: Lord Charles John Ravenswood (Kin32/ElA13) was born into a wealthy aristocratic family, inherited his title as the 9th Duke of Ashbourne and a vast fortune at a young age. However, rather than indulging in a life of idle luxury, he was captivated by the possibilities of the Industrial Revolution and its impact on society especially in light of the waning magic in the world. The family, historically renowned for producing powerful Kinetics and Elementalists had a long history of aiding the Empire in its colonisation efforts by building self propelled kinetic ships utilising both enchantments of Kinetics and Elemental Air.

In 1824, he became the visionary owner of the General Steam Navigation Company (GSNC). Recognizing the potential of steam power for both transportation and trade as a cheaper replacement for magically enchanted ships, Lord Ravenswood built the company up as a leading force in Britain's steam-powered maritime industry. The GSNC became a prominent player in the transportation of goods, passengers, and mail across the British Isles. The company invested heavily in the development and construction of state-of-the-art steamships, which will revolutionise the maritime industry and redefine standards for efficiency and luxury.

As the GSNC grew, Lord Ravenswood used his noble influence and connections to secure key contracts with the British government, making the company more and a more integral part of the nation's future infrastructure. Beyond that, Lord Ashbourne's vision extends beyond profit and prestige. Recognizing the social impact of his company's success, he took it upon himself to improve the lives of his employees. Implementing fair labor practices, he provides better working conditions, reasonable wages, and opportunities for career advancement within the GSNC. Additionally, Lord Ashbourne is a fervent advocate for environmental sustainability. He is currently looking into investing in research and development of steam-powered ships that are more fuel-efficient and emit less pollution, minimizing the company's ecological footprint.

Beyond his trade, the Duke of Ashbourne is known for his sharp intellect, strategic thinking, and charismatic personality. He is a shrewd businessman, constantly seeking new opportunities for growth and innovation. Yet, he balances his ambition with a genuine concern for the welfare of his employees and family. He is a man of honor, known for his integrity, and he uses his noble status to champion causes that benefit society as a whole.

Mother: Lady Marianne von Rothschild now Ravenswood (Hys49/Ent1) is the wife of Lord Charles John Ravenswood, the Duke of Ashbourne. Born into a noble Austrian family with ties to British aristocracy, Lady Marianne was known to possess a captivating blend of Austrian and British heritage. Her exceptional beauty was renowned throughout the high society. With striking features inherited from her Austrian ancestors and an air of elegance, she turned heads wherever she went. Her beauty became the subject of admiration and inspiration for artists and poets of the era. Beyond her physical allure, she had a rare and mesmerising singing voice aided by her inborn magic of Hysteria which made her particularly sensitive to the needs and moods of an audience. From a young age, she exhibited a natural talent for singing, captivating audiences with her enchanting melodies and emotional performances, weaving her magic into singing to the listener and their deepest emotions, bringing them both joy and tears.

It was at a grand social event where Lord Charles John Ravenswood, the Duke of Ashbourne, first laid eyes upon Lady Marianne. Immediately captivated by her beauty and entranced by her melodious voice, Lord Ravenswood was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Recognizing her exceptional talents, he was determined to make her his wife. Their courtship was filled with romantic gestures, extravagant gifts, and passionate conversations. Lord Ravenswood wooed Lady Marianne with his charm and sincerity, professing his love for her exceptional beauty and talented singing voice. Their shared love for music and the arts deepened their connection, forming the foundation of their relationship despite the risk that their pairing may not produce offspring that would strengthen their magical heritage.

Within the Ashbourne estate, Lady Marianne's singing voice became a cherished treasure. She performed in private concerts, enchanting guests with her beautiful melodies and emotive performances. Her talent elevated the cultural scene in her time, drawing artists, musicians, and admirers from far and wide. Which why it was all the more shocking when delivering her first child resulted in permanent confinement. Once having been at the heart of social events, she vanished into obscurity almost overnight, leaving tongues wagging about the true nature of her mysterious illness.
