Danielle Matthews

Name: Danielle Matthews
Alias(es): Dani, Dan

Nickname: Wax

Age: 18

Birthplace: Colorado Springs, Colorado (?)

Sexuality: Bi

Play-By: Abby Brothers

Occupation: Homeless/Thief

Superhuman Ability: Shapechanger
Danielle's body has been completely transformed into a wax-like substance. As such, her "normal" appearance resembles nothing more than a lump of colorless melted wax. However this transformation has resulted in some very beneficial abilities. The first being to take on the appearance of whatever she can imagine. Ranging from her previous look to other people, animals, or even objects, complete with coloration. Another benefit is the ability to form things out of herself, including simple weaponry or lookalike things. She cannot, however, shoot pieces of herself off or create functional complex machinery. She can also stretch herself out for an extended reach if desired. She can also reshape her vocal chords to mimic sounds and speech.
As a lump of wax she no longer has vital organs, blood, or anything like that, which renders her fairly resistant to poisons, disease, or even suffocating.
She does, however, still sleep. She does feel pain, even if it's kind of a different sensation. She does still get hungry, although as long as it contains nutrients that are safe for a human body she can use it to feed on.
She can harden or soften parts of her body as well, and can flow like a liquid. Body parts that get removed will revert back to wax and will seek her out on their own as quickly as possible.
She is stronger and faster than she was before the change, however nowhere near superhuman levels. She can however change forms extremely quickly, which may give the illusion of super human speed.

Weaknesses:
Heat Vulnerability: Being composed of wax, she has found that unless she can brace herself and harden her skin, she starts to melt in extreme heat. So a summer day would make her uncomfortable, but standing next to an oven or radiator will cause her to slowly lose cohesion.
Cold Vulnerability: The opposite of her issue with heat, her wax body hardens when subjected to intense cold. While she will not run or lose cohesion, she stiffens and can be reduced to a statue with enough cold applied. In this form she can be shattered, just as if she had hardened herself, but cannot reform until she thaws.
No Taste: Being without complex sensory organs, Danielle has discovered she has no sense of taste any longer. Likewise her ability to smell is hampered.
Mental instability: The change has really warped her mind. Before she saw herself as an outsider and a burden. Now she looks in the mirror and sees a monster looking back at her. Her self esteem is at an all time low, and she will likely avoid her own reflection unless shapeshifted. She's on the border between good and evil, and thinking herself a monster isn't helping.
Criminal Skills: While this can be a good thing while actively avoiding police or breaking into a store, her lack of formal education means that her criminal skills are really all she has. She can read and write, slowly, but she has no real grip of any real education.

What the town knows: Currently, no one in town should know of her powers at all.

Physical Description: In her "normal" look she stands 5'4", with brown hair and eyes. She possesses a build that suggests she leads a decently active life without being overly muscular. She's attractive enough, for a dirty street urchin, with a figure that doesn't attract any real second glances. All in all she looks very ordinary.
As Wax she's a humanoid wax figure that looks slightly melted. (See Distinguishing Features below).

Distinguishing Features: Danielle normally has no real distinguishing features, save the lack of distinguishing features. No tattoos, no piercings, nothing special.
As Wax she is a humanoid shaped creature composed entirely of wax. Her features are vague and barely formed, and her face has a slit for a mouth, a bump that is likely a nose, and two indents that are her eyes.

Personality Description: Danielle has spent many years simply trying to blend in with whatever is around her. As such she can range from happy to sad in the blink of an eye. However she tends to be a loner at heart, not really trusting people in general. She thinks fairly poorly of herself and tends to in turn be shy and withdrawn.
Currently with the change in effect, she is off balance and her mood tends to darken rather quickly. She is more likely to run or hide if provoked, but if she feels threatened or cornered she has developed a tendency to lash out at her aggressors without regard for her own strength.

Characters History:
From as far back as she can remember, Danielle has been on her own. She doesn't remember her parents at all, not even in vague recollections. The earliest things she can remember is being on the streets of Colorado Springs moving from place to place to find food from dumpsters and what she could scrounge while avoiding the police and military that litter the area.
As she got older she found that moving from place to place was the easiest way to survive. She discovered a talent for getting into places she shouldn't be, and slipping into crowds to avoid getting caught.
She traveled across the country stashing away on trains, buses, or whatever she could to keep moving, engaging in petty theft and shoplifting when she needed to. She hooked p with various street gangs and thugs when she had no choice, being careful to keep her identity as a girl hidden.
Even after puberty she wasn't more than a handful, so baggy clothing and close cropped hair kept her secret for the most part. If she got caught, she slipped town that day. With no real education to her name, she's still managed to keep moving.
She'd found a bus ticket in the last hideout she'd had, along with an envelope full of money. Enough to keep herself on the straight and narrow, at least for the short term if she's careful. The bus' destination? Baybridge. She quickly found that this little place is perfect to keep a low profile and possibly see what she can make of herself with a fresh start.
That is, until the changes started...

Goals: Danielle really wanted to start over. A simple little job somewhere, a tiny place to call her own. A life without running and looking over one's shoulder, or sleeping with a knife in case someone decided you made a nice target. With the change she's confused, hurt, scared, and yet she has to admit, the future might be brighter when you can literally blend in with the crowd... So she's on the edge between a life of crime or something greater. Her short term goals haven't changed too much, she still wants a place to call her own, but the temptation is there that whispers to her that maybe she doesn't need a job any longer...
She's also curious as to who left the bus ticket and money, but really isn't sure if it was meant for her or not since no one seemed to be looking for her on her arrival. However since the change she's been a bit more paranoid...

Likes: Danielle has eclectic tastes. Being on the run she never developed a real taste for material things that can't be carried, or easily replaced. That being said, she enjoys music of all kinds and she's got a fondness for movies. She's never gotten into television though.

Dislikes: Danielle dislikes authority figures having been on the streets her whole life running from police. She doesn't care much for empty open areas as well. She'd developing a fear of fire, as she melts. She doesn't care much for bullies either, or those who boast too much.
