Physical Description: Sydney is short with pixie cut hair and pale blue eyes. Her complexion reveals that she doesn’t get outdoors much, and her Marine boyfriend motivates her to eat well and work out regularly. She doesn’t dress up unless she has to, preferring loose fitting clothes and comfortable shoes.

Biography: Sydney was born in the city and forced into cello and piano lessons by her professional parents. There was little time for a social life growing up, and Sydney spent much of her free time practicing with her only social activities revolving around the church. Her parents paid for college where she excelled at performance and when she finished was accepted into the symphony where she met Bill at one of the Guild fundraisers. Bill was a master welder who had served a tour in the marines. He was everything she had ever wanted, and so when he asked her for her hand, she gleefully accepted. They moved in together, and everything seemed perfect. Bill accepted a job as an admin at a local college teaching and certifying welders.

And then that slight nagging pain in her left wrist was diagnosed as the beginning of carpel tunnel, and Sydney had to take the season off on Doctor’s orders. Bill accidentally knocked over her cello causing a break in the neck. This mishap occurred when she had been cleared to practice again, and the ensuing time it took to repair the neck caused her to have too little time to prepare to enter the symphony again. Bill was apologetic, and reassuring. He took her on a cruise to get over the disappointment, but the missed chance meant she had to be replaced for the season and would only be called on as an alternate.


Bill seemed happy with the new arrangement of things, and time passed on. Sydney missed her opportunity to return to playing for one reason or another after that, and finally gave up playing anywhere other than weddings and private functions. She took a job as a waitress at a breakfast diner to make a little money.

Time has not been kind to Sydney and her relationship. Bill no longer feels any need to be romantic even though no date has been set for the wedding. Sydney gave up complaining long ago for being made to feel that she was ungrateful. Bill is a nice guy, after all, and everyone admires him as a hero and a success.


Personality: Sydney is friendly and outgoing. She doesn’t like spending time alone, and longs to get out of the rut she has landed in with Bill. She values any positive relationships, and often puts the needs of others over her own. Sydney wears her heart on her sleeve, and is the sort that cannot, or does not bother to mask her emotions. What you see is what you get, and her naturally calm persona tends to blend in with every facet of her life. She feels a strong sense of responsibility, but can also get caught up in traditional values, and her own need for security.  Sydney had a very religious upbringing, but it is something she has drifted from since college.
