Tarina Raptori

Name: Tarina Raptori
Age: 16

Appearance: Tarina is an attractive teen, thanks largely to the breeding of her family and a good bit of luck.  She has bright red hair (shoulder length) and vibrant green eyes, traits generally attributed to her Grandfather.  Unlike the rest of her statuesque blonde siblings, Tarina is not as tall and perhaps a a bit more lithe.  She generally wears the attire that is designated for her, but given a choice she prefers silky black garments.  Tarina is very good at looking friendly, so most people generally assume that she is.

Uniform:  Tarina's academy dress is a white garment with red trim and it has the Raptori crest sewn onto it (a golden bird of prey).  Other details... TBA

Personality:  Tarina is a complicated young lady.  Ever since she was 'diagnosed' as a Night aspected person, Tarina has lead a stifled life.  Naturally she harbors a lot of resentment and as such, she is prone to small acts of rebellion.  However she has an iron will and no amount of medicine, education, or deprivations have changed her.  Tarina isn't a bad person, but manipulation and guile just come naturally.  She's never had a friend that she can truly trust (for long) although that hasn't stopped her from seeking out more... usually outcasts or miscreants.

Strengths:  Tarina is exceptionally strong willed versus coercion and she is very sly, adept at seizing opportunity when it arises.  She's also a natural born actor and good at sneaking around (or off).  Lastly, Tarina is at her best during the nighttime... and is never troubled by darkness, evening climates, or exhaustion.  If anything she is quicker, stronger, & more alert during the moonlit hours.

Weaknesses:  Tarina is not a day person... and tends to be lethargic in the mornings.  She can also be quite spiteful when provoked or mistreated (which can be quite often).  Tarina is also under constant 'guard' and has a lot of her freedoms curtailed.

Fatal Flaw:  The Noctus have designs on Tarina becoming the figurehead of their 'movement' and the more repressive her family becomes, the more she begins to side with the rebels.  Its a delicate situation that could end in bloody civil war... or worse.

Dream in life:  To be persecuted no more.

Song (optional):  Depeche Mode - Walking in my shoes

Biography;
Tarina is the youngest royal daughter of the ruling Raptori family.  She has three elder sisters and an infant brother, among a varied number of cousins, uncles, aunts, and step-relatives.  Tarina was always considered unusual, even before the dominance of her Night aspected nature became evident.  Her Father (Lord Mason) did all he could to 'cure' his daughter and after that failed, kept her hidden away in the castle.  Tarina did not like her 'captivity' at all... and on occasion she managed to slip away for a night of fun.  The rise of the Noctus and their interest in Tarina  has recently forced Lord Mason to send his daughter to Silver Crown Academy.  Tarina wasn't happy about being sent to a secluded forest, but on the bright side... there was the chance for greater freedoms, the chance to make friends, and a curriculum worthy of her wasted talents.  Maybe she can even achieve glory that might bring peace to her divided homeland.  Failing that, there is the Noctus invitation...

Complicating matters is the royal guardswoman (Joanna Talonfree) who has been sent to chaperone Tarina.  Uncompromising in her duty and possessing a dislike for the Noctus, Joanna is determined to keep Tarina safe and unsullied.  Joanna is not a cursed Dayspring native, which makes her very suitable for keeping Tarina from mischief.  There is no love between Joanna and Tarina, but plenty of arguments.

Fun Facts:  Tarina doesn't get a lot of 'fun'.  However she likes to watch fights, arguments, and other contests.  She is also quite artistic and knows how to paint, write, sing, & play the harp.

Kingdom info;
The fiefdom of Dayspring is a small land... consisting of a central castle city (Zenthia) and a collection of rural properties that surround it.  A large noble family rules Zenthia and other indirect relatives hold influence over parts of the countryside... in a sort of feudal monarchy.  Dayspring enjoys a Summery weather for most of the year and a cool (but tolerable) Winter.  There is a waterway that runs from Zenthia's port and links with a few other kingdoms.  Dayspring also has a well maintained road system to assist with its trade based economy.  The main exports of the kingdom consist of fresh food, fine clothing, and gold... all of which are in great abundance.

To the other areas of Cascade, Dayspring is  not a terribly important place... but the Crown's taxes are paid on time, military requests are promptly met, and the nobles are cultured enough to be recognized as such.  They are not a warlike people, but do maintain guards and militias for kingdom defense.  They are rumored to be exceptional 'night fighters', honorable to a fault, and a proud, private, people.  Many Cascadians remain ignorant of the truth (unless they have visited or hosted a Dayspring native).

The people of Dayspring descend from 'cursed ancestors' and still carry the effects to this day ("Your family and children will know a darkside, forever will you be divided").  There are of course a few foreigners (10% of the population) who have since settled in the land and are not cursed.  Each Dayspring native has a dual 'day and night' aspect, essentially being two people in one body.  During the day a person will act a certain way... and during the night their behavior changes into a more opposite seeming.  Each aspect shares memories with its 'twin' (unless one aspect deliberately witholds things from the other).  Currently most people favor their daytime persona and try to control their 'cursed' nighttime aspect with sleeping draughts, curfews, or gainful employment.. due to the anti-night propaganda of the ruling class.  The nobles also ensure that nightly mischief is rigorously controlled and have been known to encourage 'education programs' to combat the nighttime curse.  However there are still some people who favor their 'night' aspect as their dominant side... they tend to sleep during parts of the day or recover from nighttime revelry.  They also have a reputation for being tricky, mischievous, or bad.

Recently there has been a collection of 'night aspected' people who wish for greater personal freedoms.  They call themselves the Noctus and fancy themselves as a resistance group to oppose the stifling influence of the 'day aspected' population.  The nobles are their enemies and while violence has not broken out yet... it is probably only a matter of time.  The Noctus is notoriously hard to penetrate as its members frequently trick their own 'daytime' aspects into thinking that all is right.  The ringleaders of the movement are also seeking a face for their rebellion... and their sights have set on the younger Dayspring princess-to-be, Tarina Raptori.  She is known to be 'night' aspected (a rarity among the nobles) and was under constant guard... until she was shipped off to Silver Crown Academy.  The rebels believe that having a noble in their cause would swell their ranks with weaker willed 'Daytimers'... and gain support from the general populace.
