Personality in Brief: Withdrawn, not especially friendly. He doesn't let this get in the way of performing his job duties, but his personal life is non-existent by choice.

Any Other Notes: Charlie has sectoral heterochromia in his left eye. The result is a sizable patch of dark brown pigment in the blue of the iris of his left eye. Charlie has a talisman he wears around his neck in the form of his deceased wife's wedding ring. During their marriage ceremony, she spelled their wedding rings for protection. He still wears his wedding ring on his left ring finger. He has a great respect for those who study and practice witchcraft, a result of having been married to a witch.

History: Charlie's life started like any other. He had a decent upbringing in a middle class home, the son of a police officer and a Dispatch Officer. At the age of 20, his father died from a stroke, and he decided to get serious about his life so he could take care of his mother. He went to college to receive a degree in criminal justice and administration. Soon after he obtained his Associate's Degree, he took a job offer within the local Police Department that was offered to him by his father's supervisor.

At the age of 24, he met the woman who would become his wife on a domestic violence call. He helped the woman to leave her abusive relationship, and checked up on her every now and then. Over the next couple of years, they grew to be close friends and eventually became lovers. He was aware almost from the very start of her capabilities as a practicing witch, and though it conflicted with his religious upbringing, he accepted her practice completely. The two married the summer after they started their romantic relationship. They tried to have children almost immediately, but sadly, Sadie was unable to carry a child to term. After suffering two first trimester miscarriages and a second trimester miscarriage, they decided that having children wasn't in their cards, and stopped trying to conceive.

At the age of 30, tragedy struck while Charlie was on call and he was attacked by a large wolf. He was mauled nearly to death before his partner was able to shoot the wolf several times and get it to release Charlie before running away. Charlie was rushed to the hospital where he died, twice. Both times, he was able to be revived and spent a great deal of time in the intensive care unit. Sadie never left his side unless she had to and performed her rituals to help to aid his healing, desperate not to lose her husband.

After a couple of days, his health quickly improved, with doctors baffled as to how he was healing so quickly. They remarked that they believed that some people just had better healing times than others, but still appeared confused. Charlie believed that Sadie's steadfast dedication had led to his improvement in health.

It wasn't until the next full moon that they discovered what really was going on when Charlie shifted and nearly attacked his beloved wife. She was able to defend herself with her magics and restrained her husband in order to keep him from hurting anyone else. Through her connections within the supernatural world, she was able to connect her husband with the local wolf pack, but it was not without tension. The alpha of the territory in the northwest didn't care for witches or for vampires, and while Charlie learned to control his bestial urges, he also had to tip toe through the politics of his pack, as his wife was not even remotely accepted as an ally.

Years passed and tensions continued to grow. Unable to accept his Alpha's wishes to have nothing to do with witches and vampires, and tired of being beaten down within the pack for his refusal to abandon his wife, Charlie decided to go behind his Alpha's back in a measure to try and heal the rift between the wolves and the witches, so that he could continue to live with his wife in harmony, as they lacked the financial resources to move to another territory. Unfortunately for him, one of the witches of the coven was allied with the vampires, and sold the entire lot of them out for the promise of eternal life from her vampire ally.

The result of the sell out was the death of the Alpha's wife and mate. Charlie's meddling was discovered and his punishment was the loss of his own wife, put to death by the Alpha himself in front of Charlie. Charlie was then banished, unable to take anything with him but the wedding ring of his wife, as the rest of her body was consumed by the pack as a trophy feast. The Alpha's punishment was far more cruel than if he'd just killed Charlie. Now Charlie had to live with the responsibility and guilt over the death of his beloved wife.

It had been five years since his wife was brutally murdered and he had drifted across the country since then. He never stays in one place for longer than a year, as the local packs get twitchy about him refusing to join and remaining solitary. He has suffered many attacks during the full moon, but has been able to survive them thus far.

When the opportunity to transfer with a promotion to the Winchester Police Department came up, he jumped at the chance. He did not contact the current Alpha or even attempt to. He moved right in, confident in his capabilities to remain in his desired lifestyle of staying away from his own kind, by any means necessary.

However, after working on a Jane Doe case, he discovered a newly infected wolf named Riley Walsh. Wanting to help her, he attempted to enlist the help of the local pack. He was far from impressed with the way the member of the pack he met was seemingly unconcerned about a new wolf lying battered in a hospital bed. After trying to rescue Riley and protect her identity, she informed him of the case she was investigating, letting him know that the information was in North Carolina. Since the area of Southport was near to where the leads ended up, he contacted Jonah Flynn, who had been in his prior pack when his wife was killed.  Having maintained a distant "friendship" with him regardless of Charlie's own traitor status, Jonah agreed to aid Charlie once he told him that he had a newly infected wolf with him and gave Jonah a brief rundown of the information Riley had given him in regards to the case. Jonah agreed that they should be out of sight for the time being and offered them a place to stay at the plantation he worked at until Riley could get trained to control herself.
