Background Brief: Edge is the daughter of Jonathan Edge, deceased, formerly of the diplomatic service. Born in England, Edge spent her childhood touring with her parents before returning to gain First Class Honours in Economics and International Political Science at Cambridge. Recruited from Cambridge by XXXXX, a friend of her father’s. Edge's leisure interests include outdoor sports, martial arts and parkour.

Current Assignment: Operation Dust Line, Pretoria, South Africa. This is Trainee Agent Edge’s first field role.

Anita Edge (Hannah John-Kamen or Thandie Newton) is a Rookie MI6 Field Agent. Her father was an ‘Old Boy’, educated at Eton and destined for the Diplomatic Service. He died a couple of years ago. Her mother is a school teacher of (scandalously) Jamaican descent, who has taught all over the world and is currently the Deputy Head of a small school in the Cambridge suburbs.

Anita’s childhood and teenage years were spent encamped wherever her father’s career took him, and she picked up a lot from her father and his diplomatic associates, as well as getting an educational boost from her mother.


After graduating from Cambridge with the expected 1:1, she was headhunted by one of her father’s contacts in MI6 and has spent the last 3 years in the ‘back office’ learning her craft.


Her father felt she was safer away from field duty, and MI6 is not as politically correct as it purports to be with regard to black females, so it was only after considerable lobbying on her part that, last year, she was given a liaison assignment in the ‘back office’ of the CIA in Washington DC. While she was there, she concentrated all her free time on eliminating her third barrier to the field - she learned everything she could about firearms from her gun-toting colleagues in the CIA.


Finally, this year, her incessant applications to become a field agent have been accepted, and she is now embarked on her first field mission.

In her spare time, Jonathan Edge's 'little stick of dynamite' engages in her twin forms of stress-relief - Martial Arts and Parkour.

(Year 2000?) Her personal everyday car is an old MG Rover Metro Turbo (destined to be replaced in a year or three by a new BMW-designed Mini Cooper S). Current date is Summer 2002. Her personal car is a new BMW-designed Mini Cooper S. She also owns a Morgan +8, inherited from her father. If she is offered a ‘company car’ as a field agent, she will choose a TVR Tuscan.
