Balrak Skullbreaker

Most are instantly drawn to Balrak's piercing bright green eyes that seem to shine. They seem to have an endless depth and often bring instinctual fear to any that holds eye contact with the giant. Further more his massive frame towers over almost everyone covered in glossy marble like muscles. If he were to stand still many might make the mistake that he was a statue hewn from a single slab of marble rather than a living breathing creature.

He is most often seen in resplendent armor that seems to shine with a holy light. He caries with him a massive hammer that few men to even lift much less wield. Yet, in his massive grip it moves with the grace of a bird and the force of a meteor. Stranger still he often carries massive stones with him that could easily crush a man.

It is rare to see Balrak without his life long friend Kaerenn Boneweaver, the two met as children and while the goliath is an old man getting to the end of his years Kaerenn is still a young adult by gnome standards. They truly make an odd pair, little Kaerenn is barely bigger than the Goliath's hand. If not for her wild auburn hair she could be quite easily overlooked in her modest peasant close and soft demeanor. Yet, she is a truly powerful illusionist able to mold shadows into almost real substantial beings or else drive men mad, lost in never ending illusions.

The Spire was thought to once be one of the mountains of the northeastern Gnarlvost, yet through the ever twisting and changing lands of Iveriu it somehow made its way into the northern reaches of Kaloc. Ever since it arrived it has been the natural home and center of power for the Goliath. It is where their great Fore Father Balrak Skullbreaker was born and created his base of power. In his young years Balrak loved nothing more than roaming the massive mountain known as the Spire and exploring its every nook and cranny. He spent much of this time exploring with his childhood friend a gnome named Kaerenn. The strange pair were inseparable as children and did everything together. Yet Balrak quickly grew up where as the young gnome Kaerenn seemed to ever stay a child, innocent and fragile. As Balrak grew he became increasingly aware of just how harsh and cruel the land of Kaloc, the island mass of Iveriu, and in fact the entire world was, the constant battles just to survive. The truly desperate state they could find themselves in with a simple change to the land around them.

Balrak soon realised that he wished to protect those he cared about, not just the Goliath and Kaerenn but all the Tribe of Erenn. Through many battles he found that the only way he could truly protect what he cared for was through power. Personal power gained through the ever increasing strength of his body and spirit, was the path that Balrak took. He found his path through Tyra Selu and as he grew ever stronger he became recognized as part of the Tribe of Selu, a man with the power to perhaps change the world.

Balrak has taken on many titles, long ago he was given the honorary title of Skullbreaker by his people for his great strength. Then as he became the leader of the the Goliath he was given the honorific of Fore Father. When his power grew even greater many of the Erenn Tribe simply took to calling his Father Skullbreaker, a name he is often called when he resides in Erennfort. Yet his favorite is the title of ‘Big Dummy’ given to him and exclusively used by Kaerenn, no other but that petite gnome would dare giving the massive savage leader of the Erenn such a moniker.

Though Balrak is looked at as the leader for both the Erenn and the Goliath he is rarely little more than a figure head. He does not have the mind nor the patience for the subtle intricacies of politics nor the drab monotonousness work that comes with being in charge of an organization. Instead Balrak often functions as a guarantor for his people only getting involved if there is battle that needs to be fought or a dispute needing to be settled. Instead he spends his time adventuring and exploring. Often he goes off with Kaerenn and some of his close followers to explore or else drink and eat.
