Background:  Alexa Ingram was once thought to be the next reigning Olympic champion when she was only 16. Her talent and skill were obvious to all who watched her and she held herself in utmost self-assurance in the matter. That was until her chances were sabotaged by a fanatic anti-American that put Alexa in the hospital for nearly a year. Alexa watched as her star status faded into obscurity as quick as a passing breeze. Anger brewed within her until she was given the opportunity to try an experimental procedure designed to not only fully heal her, but make her even better.

Not hesitating for one moment, Alexa underwent the procedure. Her recovery went quickly as expected, but she began to see changes. Slowly she realized that she was altered, irrevocably changed at the hands of the government acting covertly. By the time she was 18, she had learned her powers derived from an aura she could control that was similar in nature to that of the Sun's corona. She rejected her government handlers and broke free to take revenge on the government that ruin her life.

Alexa adopted the name of Corona and began working with various other meta-humans. Her ruthlessness and efficiency gained her some notoriety as a small time villain. She had a code, however, to never kill and to never take from people that were not the government. Her plans were going well until the day she was cornered by a trio of superheroes looking to stop her from infiltrating and sabotaging a local FBI office. In the chaos that ensued, she lost control of her powers and accidentally killed a mother that was protecting her child during the fight.

Alexa was horrified. Upon seeing what she had done, she turned herself over to the authorities and was sentenced to ten years for manslaughter of the woman. Alexa was a changed woman. She took her incarceration as a sign. She had a chance to change her action in the future and not be viewed upon as a terrorist. Having been recently paroled, Alexa has made her way to Paragon City to start life anew.
