Joseph Rudyard Hunnisett is a young gentleman of 32 years and obviously Anglo-European ancestry.

Joseph is of moderate height, just a little shy of six-foot, with good bearing.

His chestnut-colored hair is in good trim, parted on the left; though perhaps just a bit too long for current fashion, being of two-or-three centimeters length on top, shorter on the sides - though not by much - but still trimmed abouve the ears, with a long taper on the neck.

A groomed chevron-style mustache rests on his upper lip, under an aquiline nose and friendly brown eyes. When off adventuring in the field, Joseph often skips his shaving routine for days at a time, but upon return to more civilized climes, he is regularly barbered.

Joseph also adopts different clothing between the field and when in the city.

When living the rugged lifestyle of an adventurer in the wild, Joseph wears either denim trousers - from Levi Strauss & Co. if he can find them - or whatever military surplus khaki trousers he can get. His preference in footgear runs to older style military boots, usually black leather ankle-boots in the style of the Jeff Davis Boot introduced to the American Army just prior to their unfortunate internal conflict. Such boots have steel toe and heel reinforcements and hobnail soles, which was only phased out in 1880. A heavy cotton shirt in white or khaki is invariably covered by a well worn leather waistcoat (which he typically calls by the American vernacular a "vest").

In the field he is always wearing a dark leather "schutztrupper" slouch hat which he won in a game of pinochle in German East Africa. As those German Colonial Troops do, he pins up the right side of the brim with a colorfully ribboned cockade.

He also wears a gunbelt with the holster worn low, on the thigh, in a typical American West style. In the holster he carries a large, heavy pistol; a Belgian made Model 1869 LeMat Revolver. The gunbelt has loops for 27 bullets, and he always accompanies this with a leather bandolier over his shoulder holding twenty-five 20 gauge shotgun shells.
