Jack Pater was a hitman for the Italian Los Angeles Mafia, and was good at his job.  He had a wife, but he kept her in the dark about his "profession."  His cover was that of a mild-mannered limo driver who chauffeured the wealthy from their homes to their jobs, or the airport, or to the next drug-clouded party.

But then on a routine checkup, his doctor spotted an anomaly and wanted to run some tests.  Sadly for Jack, the tests came back positive for cancer.

Jack had only about five or six years to live, and he wanted to spend every remaining moment with his wife, but according to his bosses, he still had a job to do.  So, in exchange for early retirement, they gave him an impossible task.  Dispose of the other three crime families in Los Angeles, and he can enjoy his retirement.  Jack agreed on one condition: No women, no kids.  The terms were accepted.

It was a bloody week in Los Angeles, arguably the most blood the city had ever seen in the course of two weeks with a body count of 45. During the beginning of his mission, Jack's home was ransacked.

The last hit was at a luxury condo building in Hollywood.  The manager of the building smiled and greeted Jack as he made his way to the front desk, and happily showed him to the penthouse.  By this time, Jack had sustained some injuries, but the man didn't seem perplexed in the slightest.

Jack cleaned house.

After calling his boss and telling him the good news, he went back to his wife with his clothes covered in blood.  He couldn't hide the truth anymore, and he broke down and told her about his true profession.  She didn't take it well.  That following morning, his wife left him, and didn't say where she was going.
